Why on earth would you want to keep Miller over Risto

And why would Tampa trade Palat for Miller 1 for 1. If it were for cap reasons they'd want a pick rather than a player right?

It'll likely be Miller since McCabe is a UFA coming off a crazy injury... Buffalo will likely have the best shot at resigning him.
Risto should be left unprotected and traded though

1) We're not trading Palat for Miller.
2) Cernak is protected whether its 3 or 4 defensemen protected. Protection lists don't mean the highest paid players are protected (i.e. McDonagh). Cernak > McDonagh and thus Cernak will be protected over McDonagh.
