Doesn’t Pittsburgh already have an overload on the left side?

Mike Matheson is their second pair LD with Cody ceci on the RD
A top pair of Reilly and Latang would be great

Pittsburgh has on LD:
Dumoulin is on the top pair and very underrated.
Matheson
Petterson
Joesph
Riikola

Where does Rielly exactly fit in there?

I'm pretty certain Leafs could move Rielly somewhere without having to retain.

the point is that they already have 5 NHL ready LDs so they don't need Rielly

Um, can you read? I said where does Rielly fit in with Pittsburgh’s over crowed LD
Matheson has another 5 years
Petterson has another 4 years
Dumoulin has another 2 years

Why are you picking a team to trade Rielly to that has no need for him. Jim Rutherford is gone you are aware 😂

He might be. But JR would send another 1st and Dumoulin back.

That is a stupid mind set to have if you can improve a position you do it. Trade one of them don’t just be like well we could upgrade but because we have guys under contract we won’t

I don’t even know why you are fighting this, it’s just a bad trade. They already went out and traded Hornqvist for Matheson, an offensive Dman. And now you think they should part with a former 1st rounder, a 1st round pick for Rielly who they will have to try and resign. 😂

I think what is trying to be said is that Pit is not the team to move him to. Burke and Hextall have already said they will be saving future assets to build for the future. Giving up a 1st, the best D prospect and more for one year of a guy who would not be on the top PP or the top pairing as they will keep Dumo with Letang as they compliment each other very well is not a good move for the future.

Tor can find someone to trade with without out the retention which would be a big difference for Tor.

The trade doesn’t work because you are taking a guy on a ELC that’s likely going to be our 2nd or 3rd pair LD next year. Now we take Reilly on and have to trade one of Pettersson or Matheson just to take on 1 year of Reilly who the pens still wouldn’t be able to afford to re-sign. So it just doesn’t work. If you want to swap POJ with Matheson or even MP, then that’s a lot closer for Pittsburgh, but I doubt Toronto would want that Matheson contract.

Immediate no from the Jackets. Downgrading at C is not worth a 2nd.
