Others teams have cap issues too. Not taking meh players on big contracts without trading back, meh players big (poor) contracts.

sharks could probably get more for meier than that imo, late first in a wack draft and a 23 year old propsect seems a bit short

That trade with the Oilers is intriguing, but I think the implications at the expansion draft makes it highly unlikely.

Tbf he's been much better the last few weeks since coming back from injury and SJ (somehow) looked even a lot worse without him. It shouldn't even take hindsight -- DW should've given him a 6milx5yrs at the very very most, which would've left just 2 more yrs @ 6mil per on the deal instead of the 5 @ 7mil (!) after this season.

I'm assuming the Simek deal is a "to whoever would take him" scenario, because the Jackets sure as heck wouldn't. LD is far from being a need here and we don't want that kind of term.
