I can see why you wouldn't, but his trade value has tanked and who else are you gonna spend that money on? They're pretty close to the cap floor as it is.

See if he has better luck in a more offensive, not-Tortorella based system. If he still sucks, it's only one year.

I’m not sure he even signs it if you do give it to him

It’s a no brainer to give him his QO.

1. It’ll be a new coach with a new system, so he could see major sucess.

2. They’re pretty much at the cap floor so might as well

3. If you sign him and he doesn’t fit, it’s 1 year.

Just let him walk to UFA. I doubt any team pays him that money after the season he just had

I'd say about 29 teams give him the QO in that situation.
Only teams that may let him walk - maybe TB, VGK?

You obviously give him that QO. CBJ has paid way too much to let him go this soon.

I see them trading him honestly, but if that’s what Laine wanted, they would probably do it.

Laine is a whinny, one dimensional winger that I wouldn’t want on my team..... however, there is teams that would want him.

100%

CBJ have no chance at playoffs next season and will trade Laine and Domi at the deadline 50% retained for high picks in a deep draft and there is the beginning of their rebuild.

Yes. Of course. Obviously. Total no-brainer. The alternatives are to lose him for nothing (terrible) or sell really really low (terrible).

Don't think Laine fits for Columbus even if they hire a new head coach. There're simply no suitable teammates, especially on center position. Rather move him for picks to any suitor.
