Honestly the way the team has been playing since Granato took over they are significantly better. I’m not sold on the idea of giving him a full-time job without doing a thorough search first, but he has made a case to keep the job. But the way the team has played they are really just missing a number one center. Lucky for Sabres fans they already have one, and he has not requested a trade. When Jack Eichel returns completely healthy the Sabres could be a real force to be reckoned with, provided they get themselves a capable back up goaltender and hang onto Ullmark.

Firsts don’t add value? Whut? And yes I already know Kotka is the only piece with real value in the trade. That was kinda one of my several points

I can not begin to explain how apathetic I get when people tack on random firsts to "fill out the value", especially when there all going to be late round firsts

Or replace Ullmark with a goalie that doesnt get hurt every 2 months putting his backups in the position of needing to carry this team

I am envisioning a 1A and 1B situation where both goalies play 30 or 40 games. The days of having one guy who plays 60 games a year in goal are pretty much over, unless you have a Vezina candidate workhorse. When you have a back up you can trust to play 30 or more games they won’t have to lean so hard on Ullmark because they can’t trust the back up.

Random picks yes. First rounders have value. It wasn’t a slap on random picks for value joke. It was a nothing will be good enough for Eichel joke. Personally I think y’all should keep him and continue to get better
