Thats why I stated, what is the trade in your thoughts?
They would have to take a contract like Krugar or maybe Hossa (as long as Hossa retires this season).

Its an interesting concept.

While this would be a great move for the end of the season and playoff run this year, it would pretty much commit the Hawks to moving Crawford at the end of the season due to JVR's contract being another season longer. It's far more likely that they'll acquire a veteran player with an expiring contract. JVR would be a better option at the trade deadline next year.

If Kruger were a part of the trade, that would actually work!

I guess this could also happen aswell, the Leafs get Krugar and say a The blackhawks next two first round picks 2017 and 2018. for JVR. Then Next year the Hawks trade Vegas Hossa to remain cap compliant with Panarins upgraded salary... Just a wierd idea, But Vegas will be willing to take on Salary contracts for the first few years specially if they got a decent prospect in return as well.

Just a thought

Kruger would at least need to go the other way to make the cap work.

TML. Doubt if Hossa would agree to start again in Vegas. I'm not saying that the trade isn't fair, but again even two first rounders likely in the high 20s doesn't provide near help for the Leafs. Leafs are somewhat committed to a playoff run, and I kinda figure the Leafs would like immediate help in a TDL.
Money going back to the Leafs from the Hawks....Hjmarlsson.

Mike Cammalieri at 50% retain ($2.5 M) for 2 yrs and a 3rd from Jersey, for Nick Schmaltz and Villa Pokka
No first rounders given up by Chi in this scenario so it stings less
If they need to dump a contract on the Devs the 3rd changes, we have 1 pick in each of the 4/5/6 rounds next year. Could also do a 2018 pick

Give Kruger in return. Kero will replace him. 2017 picks are untouchable because the Hawks are hosting the draft.
