It’s really not about whether we want them or not at this point. The goal is to keep them producing and in the lineup until the contracts are up or they go to LTIR.

I’m not going to pay to trade them away but if it was a Ladd for Parise deal, sure.

I think the potential of cap recapture penalties will make ‘any in the know’ wild fan wary of trading them. Suter is still slow, but makes pretty good decisions as a defensemen and knows how to get under the skin of other teams “stars” and parise s to ll has his go go go engine even if it’s a bit slower now.

This offseason would literally be the worst time in their contracts to trade them away in terms of possible cap recapture penalties. The end of this season is when their cap advantage reaches its peak at $20,153,846 each. If they are traded, that number locks in. If they retire early, we get at least 3 years of dead cap hit to pay off that penalty. Honestly, the hope now is either that they can remain semi productive for the rest of their contracts or they got on LTIR because the cap penalties would be a **** to have to deal with in a few years with the guys we're going to have to pay.

Cap recapture penalties are complete bs. It shouldn’t exist. It would be like kucherov being on ltir all season, then comes back for the playoffs, tamps winning the cup and then the league deciding to punish them for winning the cup because they skirted the salary cap. Just shouldn’t be a thing.

I’m not worried about it. Injuries happen as you get older....

Cap recapture is our penalty for gaming the system during the last CBA.

We wouldn't trade them because of the cap recapture. I'm surprised that GMBG was thinking about it last year. Ultimately everyone will want us to take salary back, so our cap relief won't be big enough to make a difference. Also Parise has done well in his 12 minutes a game and Suter is still good, even if he's slower.
