Who can Seattle take from Vancouver instead of Jake Virtanen

VAN
I originally had Virtanen being the one that is picked by Seattle in expansion.

However, in light of what has transpired within the last 24 hours, that is now out of the question.
    2.
    SEA
    1. Holtby, Braden
    Additional Details:
This would appear to be the next best option for Seattle.

However, I also have Seattle picking Jake Allen, Vitek Vanecek, and Adin Hill.

So, picking a 4th NHL-caliber goalie just doesn't make any sense to me.

Not only that but Holtby's performance and his record this season as the Canucks' backup is a bit worrying.
    VAN
This is who I have as being protected by the Canucks:

      Brock Boeser
      Bo Horvat
      JT Miller
      Tanner Pearson
      Elias Pettersson
      Tyler Motte
      Matthew Highmore

      Tyler Myers
      Nate Schmidt
      Olli Juolevi

      Thatcher Demko

Let me know who you think Seattle should select from Vancouver in the expansion draft and I'll see you in the comments. :)

If those are your 10 protected players they take Lind I think.

MacEwan could be a decent target. SEA will need some 4th liner or AHL all star in their system too. That's how it works. Anyway they will probably do just like Vegas did and select players just to sell them right away like Methot, Emelin...

Kole Lind. I would protect him over Highmore or Motte but who knows, it's Benning.

I'd assume they were going Lind even before

Definitely Lind. I also never understood why Virtanen would be considered for protection or selection. He’s hot garbage, on the ice and off.

Anaheim came very close to trading for Virtanen earlier this season.

And I never understood that. I didn’t know who the Ducks player was but good for them for not following through.

It was believed to be Danton Heinen

Anaheim was going to trade Danton Heinen for Virtanen straight up.

But, Anaheim didn't do it because Virtanen is owed 3 million in salary next season.

Vancouver offered to take Derek Grant as well in order to alleviate Anaheim's concerns, but getting rid of Grant would not come close to dumping enough salary for Anaheim.

So, they called it off smile

Lind gets protected over Highmore and they might even protect Gadjovich over Motte

I'm someone who only occasionally pays attention to the Canucks - and that's literally only when it occurs to me to check in on Demko - so I have no answers here. HOWEVER, I wanted to tell you how ****ing much I appreciate your immediate rejection of Virtanen. It's been a challenging couple of days to be a hockey fan who is also a survivor of sexual assault, and seeing this helps lessen the sting of all the twitter hot takes defending him.
