Pas de Drouin

Created by: Scabitant
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 1, 2021
Published: May 2, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
One troubled winger for another! Is Skinner's lack of production + high cost enough to make this deal workable?

They have very similar points/game over their careers, Skinner leans more towards Goals, which is what Montreal has been starved for.

Skinner probably have the worst contract in the league... And you trade Drouin for him whos still a 50pts + winger at only 5,5 for 2 years. That is called reaaaally bad assets management. Thank god youre not gm

Yeah Montreal isn't doing what a Leafs fan dreams of LMAO! Drouin is 10 x better than Skinner and his contract is 100 x better. No way Habs do this.

      Oh come on

Yes JD is having somewhat of a down year (on pace for 40 instead of 50) but he has almost double Jeff's point total and is 3 years younger like come on broseph

It's hilarious that JD only has 4 fewer goals lol

Despite a crazy low sh% and the inverse skillset!

Even retained it's way more term and money

Montreal are dunzo if they make that deal like it's just wayyy too many bad aging contracts: over 30M$ committed to Price Weber JoshA Sknner alone 😵

It's basically demanding Caufield becomes a better version of DeBrincat and Romanov becomes the gen z answer to Sergei Zubov to offset that wasted $$$$$

Then sticking JS opposite another sniper no less 🤨

Y'all just love unloading on Drouin 🙄

      We get it

      Find another punching bag maybe?

      Yeesh

      😒

A little sobering that he has to be compared to Jeff freaking Skinner to finally get complimented on this website lol but hey me and my boi Jonny D will take it 😎

I like Jo Drou as well, he is underrated look around the league at 50+ point players then look at their contracts most are in the 5-6Mil range exactly where Drou is! The knock in the past has been his unwillingness to back check but he turned that around and actually back checks and has saved a few goals for the Habs this year. Now they are criticizing him for 2 goals on the season and say his production is down, however he was on pace for 45 points (prorated) right where he usually is he just prefers to pass over shoot. If he had shot more and had gotten his usual 15 ish goals he would be having a career year! People just want to complain about anything with him because of the cost to acquire him. Which by the way is unfair to the player as it was MB who made the trade. I say, criticize MB for the trade and appreciate what Drou brings to the team cause who else is capable of threading some of those passes through the tight spaces he does to setup the scorers? We have like 3 players with that type of skill and 2 are 21 year old centers!

I think he is definitely redeemable. Drouin isn't awful but he has had issues in Montreal. Both fairly young and could do well from a reset.

Not trying to insult either player, I think they both need a change of scenery and expectations. As for having him on a line with another shooter; what is wrong with giving Suzuki more options? Besides lines are rarely set in stone anyway.
