No way from the Habs, sorry Couturier is 28 and a UFA at the end of next season and could walk for nothing. That's too much of a price to pay for potentially 1 year of Couturier. Also in 6-8 years we will be looking for another 1 or 2 C, instead of just letting KK and Zuke develop and take over the team for the next 15-20 years! That just doesn't seem like good long term planning here.

EDIT***

KK has already posted similar numbers to Couturier's first 3 years and it took Couts 7 years to hit 7 points, KK may eclipse 70 quicker than Couts if give top 6 minutes on a regular basis with top 6 wingers. So we trade the younger asset for the older one once again (flashes of Subban-Weber trade here)

Everyone in the world knows we won the subban fir weber trade by a landslide. Subban had one good year after leaving Montreal brings nothing g to the table for 9 million a year. Weber has been a stalwart on defence every year he has been here. This trade was one of the greatest heist GM ever. Nobody in the hockey world disagrees on that that is fact.

Philly would have to consider the deal but I don’t think this gets accepted. Struble is a nice piece but is being dealt as a surplus. The first would be mid to late in the round in a year where everything past the first 15ish picks seems to be a toss up. And Kk may never turn out to be half the player Couturier is.

Philly would be taking a massive risk trading the reigning Selke Trophy winner in his prime without getting a sure thing back.

You are kidding right?! Subban is exactly the type of puck moving D man we need. Weber hasn't pushed us over the top and infact it can be argued that he has held back his partner during his time in Montreal. Mete beside Weber was ok the 1st year then sucked after that but when Mete got claimed he has excelled. Kulak beside Weber is ok but move Kulak beside Petry and they are the best we have. Romanov beside Weber is ok but still not a top pair at the NHL level. Chiarot beside Weber is a tire fire same as Edmundson, Merrill, and Gustafsson. Weber on the PP is one dimensional take him out and look how much better our entire D has been the last 3 games. The common denominator in all of this is Weber. He has brought nothing to Montreal other than size on the D. He doesn't clear the front of the net anymore, he is too slow even in our own zone to prevent scoring chances. He misses the net 3 times more than he hits it and when he does hit it he only scores like 1 in 5 times. Our biggest issue over his entire time in Montreal is we need offense from the back end and he doesn't provide that. Subban did, I know you must be a huge MB fan but Weber was good in Nashville and has done nothing since leaving. His biggest accomplishment in Montreal has been playing more than 65 games in his first season here and injuring his own players when he shoots cause he can't control where he is shooting. He is too old and too slow to be a difference maker any more.

This is the only year he has t looked good in anything g you have mention. And you on obviously haven’t been watching subban lately he hasn’t moved the puck like he did since he left mo treat and he is still the defensive liability he always was he is absolutely. brutal defensevly and always was. Plus he’s 9 million a year. He does t do anything remotely what you speak of anymore barely even used on the power play . Rule one as a Defensemen you must be able to defend. If you can’t do that it doesn’t matter what else you can do

I don't get to watch many NJ games as I don't have NHL network. I have to watch games on TSN or Sportsnet or HNIC so I am limited in watching any games broadcasted from outside of Canada. It doesn't change the fact that PK is a better skater and PM than Weber, even a blind man can see that. You say Weber's issues only started this year but they didn't not really. His first year in Montreal (you know the one where the trade was supposed to push us over the top and into the playoffs BUT DIDN'T) he played well. His second year in Montreal was cut short because of a knee injury, same as the 3rd season. So he didn't push us over the top in those 2 either. Last year he played well to start the year but was slowing down and getting worse by the day the league shutdown and if not for the expanded playoff format we wouldn't have been in the playoff, but he did get rested and came back strong in the playoffs but still didn't get us out of the 1st round (excluding qualifying round). This year he has been terrible no matter who his partner is and when they are moved away from him those former partners do much better. Then when he decided to do the honorable thing and finally step aside when he was injured miraculously the entire D and PP starts to play better. These are not coincidences, these are the signs of a player sliding down the slippery slope that is the end of his career. He should have taken himself out of the lineup instead of trying to stay in games injured and hurting the teams chances at a playoff spot. BUT yeah he is a great leader and brings exactly what we need to push us over the top to make the playoffs "where anything can happen". You win the cup through hard work and determination not LUCK, MB really should never have made it past he 3rd season in Montreal let alone be in his 9th. The Subban Weber trade was bad, it was then it is now. It might be just my opinion, but I don't think trading younger more skilled assets for older slower less skilled assets 1 for 1 is ever a good way to "win" a trade

He wa never suppose to put us over the top one player will never to that his job was to come and be a solid defensive defenseman. I believed he outpaced subb an offensively as well first three years. At the time he want slower sub an was never a fast skater just more of a figure skater. Weber was mean and tough everybody still feared him as well. That’s why we won the trade but yes we all
New it was going to be short lived. And now Weber isn’t the top pairing guy. Weber needs to step back play second pair less minutes and let petry to the heavy lifting on the front pair because ekes face it petty is our number er one defensemen. But Weber will be still a solid second pair defensive. For about two more years max. Sub bans contract is up next year he is now over 30 himself and has accomplished nothing. And remember what Weber looked like I. The playoffs last year when he was rested this season has worned him down with the compressed schedule. That is why he hasn’t looked very good.

After Weber arrived in Montreal I do not recall a single game where he went out and physically dominated or was feared by anyone around the league. He was no longer the mean threatening figure he had been in Nashville. If it had just been this year where he seemed to have been getting slower as the season wore on then I would accept that it was the compressed schedule. However last season from the middle to end of January up to March 12th when the regular season got canceled he was showing signs of wear as well. Then when this season started he was rested and ready to go fresh but he was still slow and playing poorly even before we were ten games in. So the schedule had nothing to do with his looking tired and slowing down. He was constantly out of position and when he gave up the odd man rush he would just give up on the play. Watch him if he gets beat to the outside in a foot race he takes 2 good strides then stands up and leisurely skates back hoping his D partner can stop the play. He doesn't even skate back hard to pick up players coming in late. He IMO is worse than Drouin in this situation as it is literally his job to play defense.

Nope players survey players survey is done every year every year there hardest person to player against weber is voted by the players and price is voted as the goalie every player wants in game seven sorry but the actual NHL players is what I'm going to go with not your opinion or mine

Opinions change but the facts don't

You OBVIOUSLY like to make assumptions about people without any fact to back it up. To say that I obviously don't watch enough hockey is kind of arrogant don't you think. I mean do you actually know how much hockey I watch? Are you stalking me? Or do you just monitor what I watch on TV and how long I watch it? You CLAIM to study analytics but then CLAIM that we won the Weber trade. That in itself tells me that you CLAIM a lot but don't actually know jack!
