I don't think if a team retains on a player they can take the player back

Not within the same season if my reading comprehension is OK.

I don’t love the sharks trade. I don’t hate it but I don’t love it.

Don’t think SJ has much use for Pettersson if we trade Labanc. Agree with @Rob32sharks cause it’s a solid trade in terms of value, but I’d rather see a 1st rounder and prospects coming back than a roster player like Pettersson.

SJS has an unusual depth of Rd and a serious lack of LD. If they finally decide its a rebuild, not a retool, Pets is a good asset even if they don't retain on a trade.

I think this is pretty solid...however I think Poulin and Legare are untouchable. I think Riikola for them to take Zucker is fair. I mean Zucker is still a much better option than most of what will be available. I’d also do without the Carter trade and Danault signing. Mostly because I doubt Danault wants to be a 3C. I think he wants to go somewhere that he can be a top 6. If Danault signed a 1 yr deal somewhere else, Malkin went back to russia after his current deal, then I could see the pens going after Danault. So we’d essentially need Carter for next year and since he has been great, don’t see a need to trade him either. I also think a 4 year deal for Blueger for 2-2.5 mil is more fair for him. And it keeps that ZAR-Blueger-Tanev line together and they become free agents all at once. After those minor tweaks, I feel everything would be perfect.

Guentzel-Crosby-Rust
McCann-Malkin-Kapanen
Zohorna-Carter-Labanc
ZAR-Blueger-Tanev
Dumo-Letang
POJ-Marino
Matheson-Ceci
Jarry
DeSmith
Extras are Gaudreau, Ruhwedel, Freidman

That 3rd line can also be Labanc-Gaudreau-Carter and have Zohorna as the extra F. A lot of versatility.

SJ currently has 2 legit RD (Although neither of them actually play defense) and two serviceable LD in Ferraro and Knyzhov.

Pettersson would definitely be an upgrade over Knyzhov, but I don’t think he’s a serious difference maker and I’m not a big fan of his cap hit either. If we rebuild, it only furthers my point that picks and prospects would be more valuable than Pettersson.

Actually we have 4 NHL caliber LD under team control for the next 3 years. We only have 2 RHD right now.

I am very very high on Knyzhov I think he is solid D and will only be better in the next 2-3 years.
Simek is a similar D to Pets and Vlasic is well we aren’t getting rid of him anytime soon
I just don’t see a Pets fit here

I’d rather just keep Carter at 4c and use Teddy at 3c then waste time going after a UFA center. We FINALLY have good centers, why mess with it? And you seriously underpaid Teddy, while I’m at it
