I suggest looking into the other goaltending options. You're paying a lot but it's still not particularly enticing, and he's pretty much set as our starter now.

OTTAWA DECLINES. Put a little effort into finding teams that might actually WANT the players your trading. Ottawa is set for goalies...

TCMONKEY They have the worst goaltending in the NHL, lol. Hogberg is not an NHL goalie and Murray has been terrible for 2 seasons. They have the cap space to try Koskinen for 1 season. He’s much better than any of their current goalies. You apparently know absolutely nothing.

It sounds like Merzlikins will be available this offseason and I think he could be a long term solution for Edmonton’s goaltending. I think a 1st and a B+/A- grade prospect gets the deal done. The 4th round pick is just a throw in but may not be needed.

OTT declines in an instant.

Why would OTT pay for an old bad goalie?

Ottawa does have some solid goalie prospects, none of them are really ready

Based on what? Folks were thinking earlier in the season one of him or Korpi would be available, but at this point he's looking like the clear frontrunner to stay.

Because it wasn’t letting me trade Benson to Seattle for nothing in return. Just a technical issue is all.

Maybe take a look at Ottawa’s current goalies. Koskinen is better than anything they have and $2.25 million after salary retention is a good number for him. He’s just overpaid at $4.5 million. Melnyk has an internal salary cap so they aren’t going big game hunting in free agency but they still need to improve their goaltending.

You need to understand the difference between "Better right this instant" and "the right move for the team"

Yeah, Koskinens stats might be better than Murray right now.

That doesnt make Koskinen good, it makes Murray bad. It also doesnt mean that the trade is the right move. Kosk is 33, and wont be any use to OTT in 2 years when OTT is going to be trying to be competitive.

Bringing 2.25M of salary, also doesnt get MM off the books, so dont pretend like youre doing it to save Melnyk any money

$2.25 million for a starting goaltender is better than anything you’re going to find in free agency. The sens can’t afford an elite goalie because they have an internal cap, but I see them as a fringe playoff team next year so they can’t go into next season with the same terrible goaltending. It’s really not that hard to comprehend.

Lol dude. Literally everyone in this thread has said its a bad idea. Its not that hard to comprehend.

The goal isnt to be a fringe playoff praying that the last year of your barely passable goalie makes the cut.

If next year isnt the year, OTT would rather bottom out and grab Wright/Lambert. We have goalies in the pipeline Dacc/Gus/Sogaard/Mandolese. Let them develop.
