Few questions here, and I’m not even going to touch the big trade:
    1. What’s the logic behind the bruins move?
    2. Why does RNH take 2x8? As the premier UFA center, it’s likely he’ll be getting six or seven years at pretty similar money. Factor in that no NHL player is going to go to buffalo if they can avoid it, the Sabres would have to overpay. I think to get RNH in buffalo the cost is probably 7x9.5, so you’re about 50 million light.
    3. Dougie for 3x6? Seriously. Same thing with RNH. About 50 million dollar short.
    4. Same with landeskog. Why are these guys taking a discount to go to the most miserable place in the league to be right now?

Agree heartily with everything you said here EXCEPT about Nugent-Hopkins' value. Dude is certainly not worth a 9.5m AAV, and any team who paid him that for 7 years would have to be completely nuts.

Well, notice i never said he was worth 9.5 i just think that could be the amount of money that would get him to buffalo. Truthfully, I’m guessing he wouldn’t even talk to buffalo, but for the sake of argument he’s probably worth 7x7-7.5. Again for the sake of argument lets take the high side of that. Then factor in that he will definitely be the top center on the UFA market, and all of a sudden its not crazy to think 8 million is out there. THEN factor in that there’s a team with 0 dollars committed to any player that’s in a kinda cool tax free market, and I’m thinking it will take a big enough overpay to get RNH to consider buffalo that they might have to talk about 9.5

Everyone already knows that being sent to Buffalo means that you aren’t wanted. Most of the guys that you have grabbed either via free agency or by trades are going to be players that their respective teams want

With Seattle coming on to the scene and so many C desperate teams, nothing would surprise me, but yeah I think $9.5 is an awful lot.

Fair enough on the first sentence. But is he really the clear best C available? He's absolutely garbage on draws. He's never scored 30 goals or posted a PPG, and nearly half his points come on the PP. He's typically under 50% Corsi & Fenwick, if not well under, despite having over 55% of his career starts in the O-zone. Frankly, even coming off a down offensive season, I'd rather have Danault on my team. And even if RNH is the best UFA C available, it's not like there's much competition at all that isn't like 35. It's a pretty empty designation and a contract like that will soon enough be on all the worst anchor contract lists.

Exactly. When theres only one real top six center available, that breeds bidding wars.

Yeah... among bad, dumb teams. It's not like RNH is going to put a Buffalo over the top or anything, they certainly have enough time to wait for what will be a far, far juicier C class in '22.

But yeah, I guess that's why Buffalo is still a Buffalo. tears of joy

By no means am i saying its a fit for either party. I jsut think it’s what it would take to get RNH to consider buffalo

Yeah but because it’s the Hawks they miss that hard pass and Buffalo comes down on a 2 on 1 and scores their third goal in 2 minutes.

I think that this is a sincere, if at times misplaced, effort.

To begin with, I think that no one can argue (and, I note, no one has argued) that the Seattle, Anaheim, Las Vegas and Washington trades are reasonable value, whether or not the teams would make them. (I personally will never trade Nic DesLauriers even though people offer entirely sensible assets for him.)

The Los Angeles trade is particularly interesting for me. Personally, I would weed out all the window dressing. (I think that Iafallo with his recent contract extension is more valuable to us than Olofsson, Lemieux is probably worth more than Pekar, and MacDermid is probably fair value for moving a 2023 third to a 2021 third, so let's call that all a wash after allowing for homer bias.) We're left with Byfield and a first and two seconds for Eichel. This is awfully close to a deal I think a real NHL GM would accept, from either side.

Buffalo adherents seem to me to have a very high valuation on Eichel, and in this light, I think that the OP has to be commended for getting out there and publishing this proposed exchange which very few of his comrades will approve. I might or might not like it or agree with it, but I admire @Sayburrz for posting it.
