Columbus wants value, not cap dumps.

Hi, Columbus could do this move because:

a) Laine is significantly underperforming since acquired from Winnipeg

b) they completely miss a center for first two forward lines (Domi isn't a real center & Texier isn't at this point yet); in Coyle they get an interim 2nd line center

Hi Dutchies, Sabres also asked for a value but received just a second round pick for Hall. Is Hall's value not similar to Laine's? Don't you think Coyle would fit to Blue Jackets playing style? Wouldn't it be good to have him in one line with Atkinson?

1. Laine is only underperforming because of his coach, who will be gone by next year. Also his value is really high because of his potential.

2. Coyle has his contract at 5.25 million until he's 34, plus his contract has both NMC and a M-NTC. He's also on pace for about 27 points this year. Any team who has a lot of good centers would pay more than this. Laine isn't getting a 3rd line center I know his value isn't high right now, but there's no way Columbus should consider this.

The difference between Hall and Laine is Laine is an RFA and Hall was a UFA. There is still control with Laine. And BOS would need to trade Coyle to make room for a top end contract like Laine (Whether he deserves it or not). I'm sure thy would rather Debrusk than 5 years of Coyle at over $5 mil. Coyle isn't a top billing player, he's more of a secondary guy and he's hit his ceiling. Just my opinion.
