You may not follow prospects closely (maybe you do). But Kravtsov is about as highly rated as they get. So I think the value is there. And many Ranger fans see Kravtsov as eventually passing Kakko on our depth chart.
          Sabre fan here.
If the Sabres pick fell to 4th OA, and the Rangers were where they are now, I would do that trade.
If it stayed first OA, and the NYR dropped to 20th OA, they would need to add IMO.

Hajek doesn’t move the needle though.

Then who? which d-man fills in this equation:

          4th overall pick = 20th overall pick + Kravtsov + _____

Fox, Miller, Lindgren not for us
Hajek, Skinner, Rykov not for them
          So...Tarmo? Schneider? Robertson?

Fox and Laf stay in New York, but I'd be open to Kakko for their 1st overall pick.

Well, kakko and a first, for the first overall would get you a discussion. I doubt it happens. But this business of rangers fans thinking that every dang prospect they have is the 7th wonder of the world, and that you throw them in with a first round pick, teams would give them anything, needs to stop.

A very sane response, I think. Sabres are unlikely to drop out of top-3 though. And Rangers do it if Beniers is still available.

A first overall pick hasn’t been traded in a looooong time. To get it done, it isn’t really a question of piling up assets. It’s a question of what the centerpiece of the trade is. There needs to be something of massive value there. Chance the centerpiece.

It stops when Gorton stops drafting insanely good prospects. Rangers have #1 pipeline in entire NHL.

He lit KHL on fire this year and is generally seen as the best RW prospect in the game. But ok.

24 points in 49 games where vast majority of the points came in the beginning of the season then he went cold isn’t exactly “lit the KHL on fire.”

When was the last time a top 5 pick (knowingly) was traded? I get your bullish on Kravtsov but no one is trading their pick for Kravtsov + 20th OVR.

That's quite the hot take. If you exclude players actually in the NHL this is definitely not correct. Including players like Lafreniere, Kakko, Miller etc. From what I see im considerably less bullish on their prospect pipeline, and for me theyre definitely behind LA.

So the last pick traded at the draft, when the team knew which position it was in was 2004. That's pre salary cap and I would not count that as recent.
I admire your optimism, but dont think itll happen man, sorry.

I don't hate your team. Why should Rangers fans even worry about Devils? Our window is now and yours, if it ever arrives, would be 3-5 years down the road.

Nice! See we are back where we need to be!
This from a fan of a team who had Gretzky and Messier and missed the POs for... cks notes, 7 years!
Yeah you're right it is now, Zib, Bread growing mold on them! Trouba, great contract! Fitz ain't helping you guys out, but its nice to see we can dream

If Berniers was available I’d do it. We’d still have Schneider and Robertson in the pipeline. But there’s no way Berniers is available at 5. I think he goes 3rd latest.

          That makes sense.

That seems kind of immature. Only a child hates another team for no reason cause your a rival. Just cause the Rangers and Devils or Isles are rivals doesn’t mean I hate the other team. Seems sort of ridiculous.

Key word I put in there is “knowingly” and @Seider53 provided the correct answer. Interesting that not a single one has been traded in the Salary Cap era.

Let me add, even if the player available to the Sabres appears to have a higher upside than Kravtsov, I think it is still as good deal for the Sabres as he Kravtsov will be in the NHL next year.
The Sabres could use a top 6 RW and as you pointed out, Kravtsov is a good prospect who led Chelyabinsk Traktor with 16 goals.
The top three prospects in the 2021 draft are Beniers C/LW, and 2 LHD Power & Edvinsson.
Some Sabre fans may counter that Kevyn Adams drafted Jack Quinn, but https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-top-100-prospects-ranking/ ranks him at 26 and Kravtsov at 47.
IMO it does not hurt to have two top 50 RW prospects in the pipe line who could be in the NHL next year or the following .

We need Beniers, Power or Clarke more than you do, so we shouldn't be trading the second overall pick for Kravtsov and the 15th overall (which is what you'll have as soon as Boston gets one more point).

I'm not necesserily the best versed on the rangers prospect pool, but his D+2 season in the AHL did not look good in the slightest, and in his 3 games in the NHL in his D+3 year he has 3 points.
You may argue that he is playing down the depth chart, which has some validity, but then if he is that talented, why is he not forcing himself up the depth chart?

Same reason Laf and Kakko have been on the 3rd line for most of the year, Quinn.

The fact you value 1-5 the same is ridiculous

Look at the Devils defense. I'd think they would need him. Maybe Rykov or Skinner instead.

You do realize NJ will be using their pick to select an elite defensive prospect right? No need for a inconsistent prospect and some guy with top 4 celling
