it's a solid idea but gms never do this. they wouldn't make 4 separate trades to constantly be trading up, especially not that high up in the draft.

from a imaginary standpoint the trades do work though; they all seem fair. might have to take on another contract from the nucks for 2-3M but you seem to be able to afford that.

I don’t think your cap compliant with a 21-22 roster since Shesty, Buch, and Chytil will need raises plus Trouba won’t be LTIR.

Why does Columbus do this. 2 firsts which one is the highest of them all, for moving back six spots, and moving back another 50 spots just to grab nils. Nah we’re good. No chance.

Not worth it, would rather just do a nils+ a bit for turcotte than do this

While Lundkvist would be neat to have in our prospect pool, our needs there aren't so great that we'd trade down significantly with two 1sts. We need top-6 centers more than that, so if we're spending top assets, they'll go in that direction.

Kings wouldn't do that though. Teams never trade young centers before they get to NHL. Trade Nils++ and get Beniers. Our best route to locking down top-6 center that can develop alongside Laf, Krav and the kids.

Does seem to be the case...but if one team might differ it might be the Kings since they are loaded with top notch C prospects to go along with young C's (plus Kopitar) who are already on the roster...and while Nils has yet to play in the NHL, the expectation (based on not only his pedigree, but his development) is that he's gonna be an absolute stud.

Lundkvist is offensively gifted and could run an NHL power play someday. But Rangers have depth at defense and need a young top-6 centre. I like Beniers as much as Byfield or Turcotte and he is probably more available.

If available as a low-cost experiment, maybe. If we're making large trades down in the first round... not really, no.

I would actually. The 1st won’t be in the NHL anytime soon. Rather trade for an established NHL Dman

Rangers not doing Nils + a 1st...I'd expect LA to try to extract as much value as they could moving any of their C prospects- but let's no de-value Nils here. Lots to be proven for sure- but there is a possibility Nils becomes the best NHLer in this deal....yeah- not a C- but there is also a premium for RHD who can play smart, solid D, while also QB PP. I'm all for moving any of the NYR D prospects to build the NYR weak C pipeline...but Nils + 1st is an unnecessary desperation move.

Yeah, I get it...the trade up thing- there's a reason why trading up that high never happens- just too cost prohibitive.

That's been the word out there...and 2022 supposed to be a monster draft. The only thing though is while 2021 doesn't seem to feature the obvious high end guys- doesn't mean some real good players wont develop out of this draft- just might take a little longer...and who knows- given the pandemic situation- maybe some players who may have moved into top 5 or 10 slip back and are available around 16??
