Eichel to MTL

Created by: Scabitant
Team: 2021-22 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 3, 2021
Published: May 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Based on a counter-proposal I made to a trade machine offer someone else initiated.

In the off-season before 2021-22 campaign; Montreal signs and trades Kotkaniemi + Toffoli and picks for Jack Eichel.

Suddenly a lot more top heavy, Montreal's prospects have to fill the void in the bottom six as Danault and Tatar are gone to free agency.

2M cap space remaining, +6.3M from Chiarot, Kulak, and Thompson contracts expiring the following year should be enough to get Suzuki, and Romanov locked up for decent term, and maybe even keep Chiarot too.

So we’re a team with no really good goal scorers and talent so we trade our best goal scorer and most talented player? Also why would buffalo want toffoli

Yeah that simulator isn't very realistic. NHL 21 Be a GM mode has some competition I see...

You’re not actually complaining about this from Montreal’s side are you? Montreal needs to add two firsts to have a chance.

It gets declined, my point was why not move prospects and picks. We’re a star away from being dangerous but removing toffoli hursts a lot. Yes Eichel is fantastic don’t get me wrong

Wellll, are the habs a star away from being dangerous? They play in an unbelievably bad division, and those are the only teams they play. Even so, they’ve managed to lose more games than they’ve won.

    The habs are kinda bad.

Pick a lane. Either Eichel is some magical player we’re the return has to be enormous, meaning that adding him to a team with talent but no star power would in fact make them dangerous, or Eichel wouldn’t make a difference.

Not saying they’ll be tampa but...half decent, especially if we moved prospects instead of toffoli

Also Habs are tied with the jets while have 9 ot losses

    The concepts of
    1. That isn’t enough for eichel
    And
    2. The habs aren’t a player away from being dangerous

Are not mutually exclusive. The habs are really bad. Eichel is very good. Eichel isn’t enough to make the habs good.

This isn’t enough. But stars completely change teams. They have 9 ot losses. He helps that. He also drives his own line.
Also the Habs have lost there most important player. They are inconsistent

But if Eichel is so good, he would make the Habs pretty good. Not saying tampa levels, but good

Depends how you define good. Could eichel turn montreal into a bubble playoff team? Maybe. But dangerous? No. The habs are really bad. Eichel makes them better, but not really good.

    This is becoming pointless,
What is considered really good, top 5? Top 10? Top 15? There a playoff team without him, with 9 ot losses. Now yes we play the same teams but 3 of them are good. We are already kinda dangerous without Eichel. And what I mean by dangerous is if they play there game they could come out of Canada. Now they might lose in 4 or 5 to Toronto but could definitely beat them and Edmonton. Then you add freaking Eichel

Welll they’re a playoff team in a division that has 4 of 7 teams make the playoffs, and have precisely zero good teams, in a year with an exclusively intradivison schedule. The habs are bad right now. They are not a playoff team with normal division alignment. How about we can call top 8 dangerous. Eichel gets them probably to around 16, with boston, toronto, tampa, and florida all firmly ahead of them in the division.

    Toronto isn’t good?
Also how many points would Eichel add? They are 11 points behind Boston who is 10th in the nhl. 9 ot losses and you add Eichel. I think your underestimating the impact of a star.

Yup because Toronto and Edmonton and the jets are ****. All three made the playoffs last year. Montreal was 10 points behind Toronto, while adding toffoli, Anderson, allen, caufield, Edmundson. Again there not a top 5 team with Eichel. But to somehow not get any better after adding a fantastic player makes no sense

laugh laugh That Jack Eichel trade is a royal joke, Try more like Suzuki+Caufield+Romanov as starters. 30 other teams could easily beat that proposal.

this is such a ridiculous take. there is definitely a trade to be had centering around kk +++ for eichel. Buffalo is a piece of garbage team - something needs to be done.

No, it really isn't. It's a nonsense offer and it deserves to be ridiculed
