Cap abuse

Created by: OldManRutherford
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 4, 2021
Published: May 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
After seeing how teams like TB Chicago have grossly abused the cap there is no reason why any team would not do the same to rid of bad cap contracts by putting them on LTIR.

If you're talking cap abuse, Eriksson and Roussel, why wouldn't TB and Edm just put Johnson and Neal on LTIR and keep their draft pucks???

Exactly. This is the proposals on here every day. Posters saying give up 2021 first round pick so we can use their LTIR as cap relief. It is ridiculous . Put the players on your own LTIR.

I mean, I'm pretty confident that Chicago and Tampa would have preferred to have Toews and Kuch in their lineups all season, and not to have them be out with injuries...

Tell their GMs not to abuse their cap and then they can have them play in regular season.

tears of joy Kuch had surgery to repair his hip, and there are rumors that Toews has Lyme disease. It's nobodies fault that your GM signed a bunch of horrible contracts, other than him.

And Hossa had flesh eating disease that came from his uniform . Seabrook has career ending injuries the season he sucks. We get it. All I am saying is Ferland Eriksson Beagle Roussel all caught the lime disease also so they are all on LTIR also and we will keep our draft picks.

An independent doctor needs to confirm the injury. You can’t just put a player on LTIR because they’re not living up to their contract. This season also isn’t the first season Seabrook hasn’t lived up to his contract.

Well Chicago stadium must be a garbage can for having players catching lime disease and skin eating uniforms. They may want to use some of their cap space then to hire a sanitary crew.

Exactly so create your own career ending issue for your players and sit back and say prove it. Much better than giving up draft picks.

So you think that Toews is making up his condition? Why, he’s still a solid contributing NHL player and only turned 33 this week. Hossa has Ezcema and that isn’t a made up disease and it’s well documented.

Yeah I don't believe anything that comes out of Chicago and their years of abusing the cap. Where the hell did Toews get Lime disease off a tick? Hossa is allergic to NHL uniforms and not regular clothes. I don't buy their excuses anymore.

Has he or the team confirmed it’s Lyme disease? I didn’t see anything on that. Ezcema can be aggravated from a particular material in the clothes and when you have open sores you don’t really want bacteria/sweat getting in there to cause infections. So yeah, jerseys can be worse than regular street clothes. This is all moot because a third party doctor confirmed conditions for both Hossa & Toews, regardless of your conspiracy theories.

Yeah, a condition that gets progressive worse. Who woulda thought the guy would worry about his days post hockey? One can avoid contact from the nose/mouth but how do you avoid contact for your entire body? The logic...

Got it, so logic/reasoning/science isn’t to be believed versus your speculation. There’s no changing your mind, have a good day.

It’s a shame that the Nucks have had such a horrible season, and I get that Benning’s incompetence is probably frustrating, but having a grossly misinformed take on how LTIR works, and how teams potentially abuse it probably isn’t the best way to go about trying to prove your point.

If teams were potentially abusing it in the manner that you’re trying to say they are, there would be smarter people than you and I who would be able to prove it pretty quickly.

The “It’s a conspiracy, mannnnnn” meme would be the perfect of what you’re trying to push right now.

You could believe things once but as soon a every player on the team with a big contract starts playing bad and instantly develops a career ending excuse ? Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

Is Toews playing bad? Is he retiring? Because this doesn’t follow this news article.

https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/blackhawks/report-blackhawks-jonathan-toews-could-return-2021-22-season

So an important component of the CBA is that the owners collectively decide and therefore a team can’t put something in the CBA that is beneficial to their team or a select number of teams because the other owners would veto it. It’s also important to note that some contracts are insured by an insurance company that does there own assessment of injury since they will be paying a portion of said contract, up to 80 percent of salary.

You factor all of these components together and you’d realize your speculation is extreme tin hat conspiracy.
