Seems like a solid offer on a pretty good goalie. I don't think Seattle needs Koskinen at his cap hit, so they're probably open to that Russell trade, or something like it, and EDM ends up with two good goalies, each playing a manageable workload.

I’m sure there are other teams that could offer more, but this way WSH gets a cheap backup, and will only have to play Vanacek twice a year (if he even starts those games) plus a couple of picks. Better than losing him to SEA for nothing.

Edmonton should consider adding a starter if they "get a goalie".

Yeah. I think Stalock's cap hit makes him a good replacement for Vanecek in WSH, even if he doesn't have the same up-side anymore.

Yeah drafting a player 4 years out will surely help them right now

They're not winning a cup for a few years. Vanecek won't win them a cup either. What's the problem?

Vanecek isn't a proven starter yet. He would have to play for a few seasons playing 50-60 games plus while maintaining starting goalie quality numbers. His current .907 doesn't exactly jump out at you either. Way to much for Barrie.. at least for the Oilers to pay him. Way to much for Nuge, he's just not worth that much.

Totally. The only real starters available are Andersen and Holtby. smile

They're ranked by wins, a team stat. Then, SV%, .907 is "good" for you?
