Description
I'm over Kuzy. I'm not seeing it with Samsonov, either, but I suspect he still has enough of a shine on him to be worth more as trade bait than he likely should be.

In reality, I still think Oshie is the one going to Seattle. Lotta talk about Sprong, but Oshie's a hometown kid and I just don't see them targeting anyone else as the team captain. He's beloved, an incredible locker room guy, and a leader. It's a no-brainer.

That said - I love Osh and he still isn't hitting that dip he was supposed to hit like two years ago. I do think Vanecek is the better goalie (and certainly the more stable off-ice), and he is signed for next season for next to nothing. If the team can offload Dillon at the cost of not spending money on Sammy, I think that's the move.

For a high-scoring team, I was shocked to learn today that the Panthers don't have a more offensive 2C (Wennberg). Enter Kuzy. They'll finish well enough that their already-devalued 1st round pick will be close to a 2nd rounder, and they'll want to make a move to keep pushing forward. Hagelin and Acciari are probably equivalent players, so the 3rd pick going over to FLA is for a little of Hags' cap space and term.

Sharks have missed again. Almost the entire team needs to be re-signed. It's rebuild time. Gimme Hertl, yo. Since he only has a single year left, I think this is a fair price for what might be a rental. Pinho can probably slot in at 4C for the Sharks tomorrow.

Kempny could net less or go to a different team. But Arizona seems like a team that will need an affordable defenseman, and Kempny has the ring. Either way, he's getting moved for whatever the Caps can get for him.

I still think Bernier is a good fit for the Caps. Bring him on. Matty P was waived and nobody claimed him, and he's falling out of favor in the Peg. Caps love a good redemption story. Come back home, buddy.

Youth revolution on the blueline. The team could easily sign another d-man, and probably will. But I think these guys are ready for the jump, and the Caps have to get them on the ice at some point.

    Wrong target for Kuzy
Don't need centers, big contract will destroy efforts to re-sign stars
Maybe Columbus or someone will take him bc they have no centers, though tortellini probably wouldn't like him
But is that really all you want in return? A late 1st?

Maybe - but I think FLA is really going to want to push next season and stay at the top. I don't think their current C's get there again.
Gotta take into account Kuzy's NMC and his reputation. Lumbus would probably be a great spot for him to land - if he'll agree to go there, which I highly doubt, especially if Torts somehow isn't fired. That, his cap hit, and his declining reputation all depress his value. Being able to free up that much cash and a headache for a late 1st is something I think DC jumps on, if they can get it.

Honestly if Columbus was able to get him for a late first I think they would be very glad, esp with the length of the deal
And I don't know where Kuzy would fit really, unless he can play on the wing (which it doesn't seem that he does)
Most of the worry comes from the big cap hit and the length with big extensions coming up
But something tells me he would like it here... lol

No way in hell Caps trade Sammy, a future top 5 goalie, for Seattle to take Dillon. You can trade Dillon without having to give away a top young goalie.

Kuzy actually played wing for most of his KHL career. Honestly I think he should move back off center. He's not good on the dot.

He's been the goalie of the future for a helluva long time without showing any consistency resembling anything more than, at best, a top-20 goalie. I'm counting on actual GMs thinking like you and actually wanting him as though he is valuable rather than instantly replaceable.

He's played 45 games lol Still young. Just a little inconsistent. He'll be a beast.

I don't think they do either, but his character off the ice hasn't been thrilling. I think we re-sign him but I would want it no more than 2-3years and no more $1.5mil. I think his poor mistakes may depress his contract value

It will probably be 2-3 around $2M is my guess.

I agree, I’d personally like to be lower than $2mil but i think that’s a realistic contract
