    Detroit should do that.

I think you paid too much for Hughes on that 3 year bridge. McAvoy, Werenski, and Sergachev all signed 3 year deals from 4.8-5M.

Pettersson, I don’t think signs that and looks for a Barzal/Point 3 year bridge or higher AAV.

Jensen's got one more even strength point this year than Myers, while playing much tougher minutes. I'm not sure you have the pick on the right side of that one.

I can pretty much guaruntee Myers plays tougher minutes, but that’s not the point for Washington. Woo is a good prospect and will likely be able to replace Jensen’s role at a much smaller cap hit in a couple years, and is also expansion draft exempt

Gotta give something to get something. Bertuzzi is really good and makes this top 6 way better

while that's true an 8ova is a bit tough of an ask, Could see something like a conditional 2022 1st that's lottery protected Just like the Miller trade

Guarantee, eh? 45% offensive zone starts for Myers. Jensen's are only a bit tougher at 36%. What do I win?

Expansion-exempt RHD is good, especially if the Caps are worried they might lose Schultz or Jensen in expansion.

Myers also plays 5 more minutes per game, so even if he proportionally gets more O-zone time, he still is out in the Dzone just as much as Jensen. Plus, Myers gets first line match up duty. He is a very overworked defensemen

I suppose if Detroit made the deal on draft day because some one they really wanted was there I could live with it but I don't like it.

I can't help but think that Podkolzin would be just fine as the #2RW. It's not as if he's been playing in a bum league: he'll be miles ahead of his AHL counterparts. His NHLe for his entire season (save for the WJC's) was 12.942G - 13.481A - 26.423P with an average of like 12 minutes per night. Increased quality of linemates and TOI makes a 40 point season very, very plausible.

The Pacific division is going to be a dumpster fire save for Vegas and Edmonton: if you can bring in Stastny for the #3C and play Lind with him, you can probably keep your pick and just eat the last year of Roussel's deal. Hell, bury him if you want, but I don't think you need to move that much value nor do I think bringing in Bertuzzi is an immediate need. Who's the premier RD for the Canucks over the next decade? What's the long term solution for a quality #3C?

Given that the draft rankings never match what we see on the actual day of the draft, there's a chance the Canucks could be looking at drafting either Johnson, Lucius, or McTavish to anchor that #3C until the heat death of the universe. Clarke shouldn't be available but there's always a chance.

Moving that pick - unless for an already established young RHD - is probably not in the Canucks' best interest.

They're both top-10 among RHD in SHTOI. Myers also gets plenty of power play time, though. I agree he's overworked. Could use a supporting cast. I think Jensen plays a key role in reducing Carlson's workload, but under a flat cap, WSH is going to have to make some sacrifices this summer. It's just a question of what deals make the most sense for them. I think they have depth at LHD, and they have no depth at RHD, so for them to deal an RHD, the trade actually has to be a win.

laugh laugh Is this a freaking joke Rousell is 31 years old not trading a 25 year old Bertuzzi for a player that doesn't fit our rebuild time line. Bertuzzi > > Rousell just due to the age difference. Vancouver's 8OA in a meh 2021 NHL draft doesn't cut it. Yzerman would want a much younger piece for Bertuzzi not someone that is 5 years older. Detroit passes.

Why should Detroit make that trade? Rousell is 5 years older then Bertuzzi. And there's no certain guarantee that this years 8OA pick winds up being any better then Bertuzzi.

Roussel is merely a 1.9M cash / 3M AAV dump. The 8th overall gives you one of the top tier prospects that may fit our core better especially considering we don’t know how Bert is going to play after that injury.

You're joking right? You trade a cost controlled top ten pick for 26 year old winger who has never scored more than 21 goals and you pay him 5X5.5? Awful trade

Yeah I trade away an unknown quantity for a sure thing. Of course I do. Bertuzzi is obviously a top 6 Forward and brings more to the table than just scoring.

Top 10 pick could be a Podkolzin or a hughes, but it could also be a Joulevi or a Virtanen. I’d rather get some security knowing that I will have a top 6 forward that Fits in the age of the current core

By your rational, the Canucks should have traded all their top ten picks for players who aren't all stars and won't be. Sorry, not going to agree on this one. In my mind, this is a brutal trade.
