Jones is a top-4 defender, not a depth guy. Keith is the only one that strikes me as playing ahead of Jones, maybe de Haan.

Yeah, no. If he was a top 4 defender, then at his age and cap hit he’d be worth a 1st round pick. You’re trading him straight across for Alex Nylander. Dude plays 13 minutes a night, he’s not pushing anyone out of the lineup.

It's a three way deal prior to expansion: Edmonton's otherwise losing him for nothing, which doesn't give them the chance to get max value out of him.

Each player in the deal is worth at least a 2nd round pick: everything else as I said can be adjusted with midrounders.

Regardless, I don’t think the Hawks would be interested for the reasons already stated.

Chicago don't need more LD clogging up depth and doubt Caps give up Vanacek for that. I think we're gonna take our chances on Nylander not getting picked up by Seattle in the expansion and re-sign him on a cheap bridging deal to prove fitness or trade.
