Buffalo isn’t giving up Dylan Cozens for anybody not named Connor McDavid, or at least somebody like that. That kid is going to be wearing a leadership letter on his jersey in a couple years. Tom Wilson is public enemy number one at the moment, his value probably has never been lower. If anyone is going to trade for him it’s going to be a package of pieces, not a high-end young player.

Im open to discussing a tom wilson trade, but if the ask is cozens, then we wont be getting tom wilson.

Is it reasonable for your aging captain to take a $2M raise on a flat cap 2 years removed from a Cup win? Not even a sarcastic question, I just don't know if you chase money or Cups at that point in your career.

MTL says No. Kuznetsov doesn't make them a contender so it really doesn't make sense to trade a 21 yr old salary friendly C whos getting better and better for a 28yr old C at 7.8M who hasn't hit over 55pts in 3 years.

BUF says No.

I’d take Tom Wilson if he was an African War Criminal if it meant the Sabres finally commit to moving Sam Reinhart to center.

But not for Dylan Cozens

I’d pass as a Hawks fan. Rather take the chance on Nylander and we still have Subban.

Buffalo had a report a week ago about wanting to add grit, naming thacuk and wilson personally. If anything this situation might increase the value if the sabres want him

Yeah their would probably have to be other pieces but its hard to determine Cozens value rn, as he isnt doing exceptionally well and the coaching staff doesnt seem to like him. Maybe middlestat and a pick would be more likely

Yeah, i think vanecek has the potential to be better than subban but i also dont see a place for nylander to be in your top 9, and his injury doesnt help his value.

The kuznetsov rumors are true, its just wether it would happen or not for the right price, and the same is true with the wilson rumors

I cant find the wilson report rn, but the sabres want to add grit and the two players they were looking in to were wilson and B. Thachuk. Also Kuzy has been rumored to be traded as of yesterday.

His agents are looking for a 12 mil contract, this is more of a realistic option of what i think he will take. Obviously i dont want him to take that much but it seem the contract will be in the 11-12 million dollar range

Most of these trades benefit the caps more than the other teams

Yeah i get that, its just hard to determine both players value rn, mittlestadt would probably be a more realistic option

Yeah i get that, but Montreal has been looking for a true 1C for years, they even offer sheeted Aho, i think they are desperiate for 1 and they would need to give up either KK or Suzuki

Suzuki has 37pts in 52GP and hes getting better and better, he has more points than Kuzy this year and only like 10 less last year. Yeah they sent an offer sheet for Aho but they weren't giving away Suzuki or KK. They didn't want to include either of them in a trade for Dubois they're not going to trade either for Kuzy. I think they will be sticking with the 2 young cost controlled C's and let them develop into 1C 2C which I think they wil be.

We definitely have a logjam at wing next year, but Nylander is perfectly capable of beating those guys out and has the highest upside of the group. He’s worth more to us than upgrading at backup goaltender, which hasn’t really been a problem.

Trading valued assets for public enemy number one across the league probably won’t go over well with a sizable Number of people in their fan base. If nothing else the only thing we know the Pegulas care about is money. They would try to spin such a move as the Sabres getting tougher and harder to play against, but if enough people won’t buy tickets The Pegulas lose the money they care about.

if anything wilson would draw in more money, not lose it and they already have very little fans

Actually the Buffalo area has a pretty rabid hockey fan base. The team has been borderline unwatchable for so long that no one wants to pay to watch them get their teeth kicked in. If the team is competitive people will want to watch. Honestly, if the team continues to play they way they have under Granato they will be a competitive team next season when Jack Eichel is back healthy. Especially if they get a decent goaltending duo.
