Isn’t Cuelmans playing in the AJHL this year, which means he’s at least 3 years away…

Yeah, even if he does get drafted in the 1st round he is committed to the University of Wisconsin (Moose Jaw own his WHL rights) so that pick would be a longer-term play. That said, a draft position in the 20s means patience is required.

I don’t know what the dev program in WPG is, but he would be a good later 1st round pick.

They develop talent well. Unlike the Trashers, they don't rush players.

From the little I have read, Cuelemans ranks from mid-to-late first round so its possible he'd be around for the Jets who likely will draft in the back third of the first round.

He was around the 20 mark before the U18...he has played really well and I can see his stock rising

If we can get him around the 20 mark, it will be great...big boy, right shot and won't be there for 2 years... perfect timeline

Lambos or Ceulemans I have thought about but it seems better to take a RHD because the Jets only have Pionk and on the left they have Morrisey, Heinola, and Stanley.

Drafting for need is a dangerous game. Lambos will be a top 4 defender sooner or later, but Cuelmans has top pair potential. The risk is he could be a total bust. I’d draft based on your prospect risk tolerance instead.

Yes but Lambos won't be there at that time

Probably not, but I’ve heard weird things about how teams value Lambos. McKenzie had him at 15 and Cuelmans at 18. Jets probably wouldn’t get either if that list is to be believed. But I think Lambos has potential to fall whereas Cuelmans would probably stay around there. I just wonder how low is too low not to take Lambos.

If the Jets end up in 4th place in the North and don't go anywhere, we will be around 17-18 OA

Fair, but you do get to play against the Oilers goalies. So you never know.
