We do?

Has anyone actually watched the guy?

He’s averaged 0.45 points per game.

Is he good defensively? because his offence sure isn’t overwhelming.

Much like our previous Finnish Bobby Orr, he is already projected to be the Russian Patrice Bergeron.

He is a gritty guy and I cant find a lot of highlights of him but there was one time he blocked a shot and carried it up the ice and scored. I know +/- is a dumb stat but he is a career +27. SO overall he looks like a good, low-event type of 3C

He will be anything but a 3C/third liner

Kerfoot has a better NHL ppg than this guy has in the khl.

If we are going by single random highlights kerfoot has plenty with his speed.

If this guy turns into more than Barabanov we should be ecstatic. Expecting him to be a 3c on a contender with no backup plan is insane

Maybe wait until he's played some games in the NHL before deciding that. Toronto's bottom six next season is far from decided and Semyonov just adds more competition.

We will all wait for the Steve Simmons article informing us of this players elite potential before making judgment.

Semyoyov was a third line centre on his KHL team...which did win the KHL championship the season.
Really optimistic to think he is a 3C in the NHL, even a stretch to think he is an NHLer next season.
NHL depth at centre next year is weak for the Leafs next season especially if Kerfoot is traded (for cap reasons) or selected by Seattle.
Brooks, Engvall, Hallander(SHL), Semyoyov right now are next in line

The Leafs signed two Europeans UFAs last summer. Then both Lehoten and Barabanov never saw any NHL ice time due to no injuries to the Leafs defence and a glut of LWers.
Leafs owed to those two players to play in the NHL. Leafs would have had trouble signing other UFA Europeans, unless they kept their word "You will play in the NHL".
So good for Barbanov and Lehtonen and Columbus and San Jose that the trades have worked out. Both players are UFAs this summer, I'm happy they have had a chance to show their talents in the NHL.

I would say C depth is good if is Kerfoot is around, weak if not.

Its a win/win/win.

Win for SJ as they got a decent player
Win for Barabanov as he is getting his NHL time/chance to prove himself
Win for Toronto as they can say to future Euro/NCAA free agents "we will get you your NHL opportunity. If we can't get you playing time with us, we will trade you somewhere that you can get it. Just look at Barabanov and Lehtonen" (both traded this year for meh at best returns I think for that reason).

I am legitimately happy for both Barabanov and Lehtonen. I hope he turns into a San Jose regular smile
