Leaf's finally have a good defensive core.... Let's destroy it for mediocrity!

I think the Leafs better be prepared to pay Hyman more than that or lose him on the open market, a home town discount is one thing but this will be his prime contract in his career unless its a bridge deal which is not typical at age 28. His numbers this year suggest Nylander money as he has the similar points in less games, I wouldn't think he takes any less than 5 mil to stay, probably more as an FA.

I’m thinking he takes a bit of a discount on the AAV. However the term will offset. Likely 6-7 years.

Leaf fans and media seem quite eager to jump the gun on Sandin and give our best dman the boot.

Possibly, Dubas is creative and I think they will do what they can to re sign him, but there are teams that will overpay and that could draw him out.

Edmonton should be looking to offer Hyman 5-6 million. Discount is one thing but it’s going to be a competitive market for his service in his prime contract years...

Why would he travel half across the country, away from his family

Why would the Oilers accept this deal?
We're looking for a winger and a goalie this offseason

For an extra million maybe even two that’s worth moving the family for. Wouldn’t be the first time a player made that choice. Get paid more and play with best player on the planet....

Yeah, he's not going to Edmonton (not an attractive market). He said multiple times, he wants to end his career as a Leaf

You think if Edmonton offered same term but 5.5 yearly he would choose to stay? That’s 9 million dollar difference sure his preference might be to stay and willing to take a discount but in my opinion that’s too much of a discount to expect. Guys like spezza will certainly take well bellow what could get on open market but that’s because he made his money in his prime years Hyman hasn’t yet

Depending on klefs status Reilly would be a nice addition to the second pairing with larsson
Nurse bear
Reilly larsson
Russell Bouchard
Lagesson
I’m not against it although kerfoot being in there doesn’t interest in the slightest youth can take on the role he would for a 1/3 of the price.
