I guess you have to look at their contracts and decide on that. Kuzy has more term than Monahan, which could lead to him being more valuable. If monahan has a really good year with Ovi you don’t know what his contract ask might be. I’m thinking it’s close to fair, but probably CGY adds a bit.

It's funny, I was just about to say the opposite team adds. In a flat cap era, Calgary is taking on more cap for longer so they may want something in return for taking such a large contract. But as you mention, Monahan is cheaper but Washington would only have him for two years so in case he doesn't re-sign they'd probably want a little something. Maybe Washington receives a prospect and Calgary receives a pick of equal round? (as in, for example, Washington gets a prospect drafted in the 3rd round, so they give Calgary a 3rd round pick in the draft)
