You’d have to throw in Columbus’ first round pick this year while keeping all the other pieces in. Even that may not get you a top 5 best defensive forward in the league. Laine for coots is a definite no from philly.

So you're only 400 Wayne Gretzkys away 🤔

      Wait sorry 500 Wayne Gretzkys

Even for Laine we wouldn't have a 1st line center. Its just better to not do either one of those

Couturiere has been a great value for the Flyers. But to sign a 29 year before the the season starts to a eight year contract seems like poor long term value.
I really don't how this trade would help Columbus long term....the cap and losing three good young assets.

What's the "Holland is an idiot" comment all about... He's in the HHOF for his management. Made some mistakes near the end in Detroit but had a wildly successful run and was likely forced by ownership to keep pushing it rather than start the rebuild earlier like he should have. From an Edmonton perspective... much better than Chiarelli.

Better than Chiarelli and has the history yes but hes definitely made... tons... of questionable choices the last 5-7 years and bases his evaluation on players off their past rather than current play, which is why I could see him thinking Korpi is still a great goalie

After the year Laine has had, I#'d say Laine and 2 1sts or Texier and 3 1sts.

Couterier would have been on pace for a 3rd year of 68+ pts and a Selke, and is still youngish. Its all the things he does besides scoring. Laine and his contract doesn;t come close 1 for 1

He has made both good and bad moves since he came to the Oilers but at the end of the day he took a team that had missed the playoffs back to back years and has made the playoffs in his first 2 years (they were solidly in a playoff spot and playing good hockey down the stretch last year... I don't consider losing in a crapshoot of a qualifying round a miss). Yeah, the Kassian contract and the AA trades were bad but being patient with our prospects and how he handled Puljujarvi will make the team better in the long run. Franchise is in much better shape now than 2 years ago.

Yeah, Edmonton isn't downgrading their goaltending AND adding a high pick. That's silly.
