Draft Trade Options and more

Description
Not saying all of these would happen just saying it would nice to see these trades/signings/picks be done. Contracts might be a bit off. I have a strong feeling Bertuzzi could get traded at the draft since Mantha was traded because he wasn't in our timeframe, so this is what I think he could get. I don't know if I would want him traded. Draft pick is assuming we win top 1 or 2.

Sad seeing svechnikov seattled (alliteration!)

Heck yeah weaponizing cap space

I don't see CBJ doing that with their lack of ability to contend and the UFA driven instability facing their roster in the near future + how good the 22 draft is

I know it was quite challenging for me to find a suiter for Bertuzzi that also could fit what his cap would be and give us the value for him that wasn't late 1sts + whatever (Hence the remark of another Yzerman steal haha) I do like evrything else though. If CBJ traded Texier away they'd be nuts I know.

Oh this is also anticipating Laine leaves so they will need a LW and they get a ton for Laine so they can give up some picks.

Thanks for your input, but what would you give to rid yourself of Eriksson?

I agree and I would rather lose Namestnikov or Lindstrom to Seattle

I'd take that trade too I just like the fact of getting Dipietro and VAN doesn't really need him since they got a solid young goalie in Demko, but your trade or mine I'd take. Also, I don't know if you can really ride his contract out unless those two big contracts you have coming up aren't so big.

Same but I think they will take Svech because for the last FW spot for me it's between him and Erne for me. Lindstrom? Who are you protecting that's not Stecher, Dunn, Hronek in this situation. I guess with my scenerio we would lose Cholowski which would suck.

So dunn costs more, a 2nd and a prospect probably. Columbus needs centers not wingers so I wouldnt hold my breath they overpay for bertuzzi, plus theyre roster is about to self destruct. I hate the idea of ericsson but for dipietro I'll live with it. Ladd is probably a no , they just don't seem open to taking dead cap.

There aren't many teams that can take Dunn since Seattle will snatch him so his trade value is going to be down quite a bit.

There's 30 other teams, bro. You're not the only shop in town. And if I had my way, they'd expose/trade Krug instead of Dunn.

Many of those 30 teams can't take him because of cap restraints and they have 3 better D men than Dunn so those are out.

Oh I know thier isn't a huge market but they still won't give him away they have other options. Don't get me wrong I like the player and id love him here.

Dunn is hardly so expensive that teams can't find a way to fit him in. And the list of teams with three more valuable D-men than Dunn is not so long as you seem to think.

Low-ish 1st or decent 2nd w/ decent RD/LW prospect is what they'd be looking for. Most folks will agree that his where his value lies.

No way cbj does that deal. Tex. A young center who looks like a potential top 6 guy plus a first for Tyler bertuzzi. Mind you Columbus is A. Looking for centers. And B. Retooling. Why even consider it?

Just generally speaking, the "might as well, gonna lose him for nothing in expansion" argument is flawed. Seattle is taking someone no matter what. So if you get a lousy return for Dunn, you still lose a different player to expansion. The question becomes, is getting a 3rd and a 4th worth losing Dunn AND, say, Blais or Barbashev or Walman? If they really can't get a reasonable offer for Dunn, and they do expose him, that is probably a better situation than getting a 3rd + 4th and losing an additional affordable NHLer.

Now specifically in Dunn's case, the Blues would be dumb to get a crap return for him when they can simply leave Faulk unprotected and play chicken with Seattle. Which of Faulk's seasons do they consider the outlier? If the Blues were to lose Faulk, are they better off with the long-term cap flexibility? I'd say that Faulk lived up to his contract this year, but I'm not expecting him to perform at that level for 6 more years (and Seattle probably isn't either).

All of this might be moot because I think there are a ton of other teams that could use a protection spot on Dunn and could give up better assets: NJD, ANA, NYR, WPG, VAN, VGK (exempt from XD) etc.
