Description
IMO the hardest award this year, there are a lot of possible candidates. I have my top 10 in order below. At this point in time I’d give it to Saros, but I could see him, Vasy or Fleury winning it in the end.

Nashville would’ve missed if it wasnt for Saros. Should get Hart candidacy consideration imo

Especially interesting considering they took Askarov last year

YES! God I wish more people and media understood the Hart Trophy true meaning better. So sick of points. Should always go to a player on a team that makes the playoffs. But without that player/goalie they would not have made the playoffs. There's a reason there is the Most Valuable Player and the Most Outstanding Player.

They got slaughtered by us 7-0 when their goalies sucked. Saros should really get the credit he deserves.

Couldn't agree more!! Saros is the best goalie in the league right now imo

I agree with those suggesting saros for hart as an oiler fan and seeing what mcdavid is doing it’s hard to not just give him every trophy and bow down to the hockey god himself but even a human level of production from him would have been enough to reach playoffs without saros play Nashville had no hope at all I think mcdavid gets it but saros would be my pick. That being said vezina trying not to be bias here I still gotta look at smiths season and rank him among the very top he’s not only stopping enough pucks to be in the conversation but no other goalie in the league matches up when it comes to puck handling and passing he’s stopping pucks and launching the forwards on the attack far more than any goalie I can ever remember watching. He’s also put this impressive season together in a very high scoring division.

How did you account for strength of opponent? The divisions are wildly disparate when you look at offensive capabilities.

Fair points about Smith. Not a Vezina season but a solid season. Especially for Edmonton who historically is a goals against machine.

I didn’t look into it too much. It’s probably more impressive to be doing well in the Canadien divison tho compared to every other one, because of all the offensive talent and the lack of defensive talent

Varlamov is my pick for winning it

7 SHUTOUTS, 2.02 GAA, 0.930 SV in 34 games

but u got to think Campbell may get on the list (11 wins in a row, 2 shutouts against Mcdavid and Gaudreau, broke 2 records most wins by Leafs goalie and most wins in goalie start, and is playing through a leg injury). Like yeah other goalies have played more games but man thats some solid criteria for making a Vezina case

for me rn its

Varlomov
Vasilesky
MAF
Grubaur
Saros
Shesterkin
Campbell
Nedeljkovic
Smith
Hellybuck
