Both the Kaprizov and Fiala contracts are low. I would be shocked if the Wild signed Kaprizov to only one year.
JEEK 4 x 4.5
Fiala 4 x 6.5
Kaprizov 5 X 7.5
Is probably a better bet.

I think once minny sees the pick order post playoffs they'll have a better idea of what they think is fair

They are both Islander picks so should be ~32 spots later.

Kaapo kahkonen is being protected. Wild have already offered kaprizov 8 years @ 8.5 mil

Talbot, & dumba are now according to Michael Russo apparently Guerin is going to offer assets to protect them

Honestly, I think the pick would have to be a 2022 1st. I guess I’d need to see what the RFAs sign for but I think we’d rather keep Dumba for the time being.

I think you’re high on JEE and Fiala but low on KK. JEE for 4.33 for 6 years is the Dvorak deal, a guy who had like .2 points per game more than Ek. There is really no comparable for Fiala to get more than 6 over 5, if term is shorter he comes in at a lower AAV. While KK might want to sign for 5 years, I think 6 or longer at 8.5 is more likely. Max term at 9 is probably the best bet though.

Where are you getting that info from? I don't mean that as if I'm doubting you, but I'd just like to listen to the podcast or read the article, or whatever it is that confirms that.

It was from a Russo post game article where he mentioned wild offered kaprizov 8 years @ 8.5 mil as a starting point

Also mentioned on recent podcasts, wild will do everything in their power to protect Talbot and dumba
What I posted below talks about wild protecting dumba, & Talbot
https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/straight-from-source-michael-russo-show-about-minnesota/id1481428713?i=1000520290373

Let me know if you can't find the kaprizov article, & I will try to find it or email Russo

Nice thanks! I'll check out that one. I also see Russo dropped a new Worst Seats epi where the focus is Kap and Jeek contracts, so that may very well also answer my questions ha.

Lol. I am sure you might even find it on Twitter. It was a post game article couple of games back where Russo post game talked about kaprizov being offered 8years 8-8.5 mil by Guerin, & wild Twitter/ bloggers went wild hoping, & desperately just wanting kaprizov to say yes.

Looks like we both might be wrong. Just read this article in the Athletic. Hope this link works.

I read that earlier today. It’s well done but it’s also a very dangerous thing to base expected performance off of a shortened one year sample. Had Ek done this the year before as well, I would be more inclined to believe it is a norm rather than an outlier. This scenario for the Wild reminds me a bit of the twins a few years back where everybody hit career highs and you see where we are now. Be skeptical of the number this year.

That said, he’s never put up Cirelli numbers and his lifetime scoring numbers don’t justify a contract like the one described. I’d wager it comes in just over 4 mil by 4 years.
