Kuz to SJS

Created by: ClockReads2113
Team: 2021-22 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: May 5, 2021
Published: May 6, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
SJS gets a highly skilled top 6C that needs a fresh start (if he doesn't have a great playoffs). They also get a young, cheap goalie ready to start. Maybe the biggest get is they get out from the Jones contract.

Caps taking the biggest chance here with the Jones contract but maybe they can turn him into a fine backup. If not send his butt down. Caps also get a nicely skilled top 6C that was rumored to be on the block.

As a the Sharks my second favorite team idk

They get a better goalie in Vitek and Hertl is on the last year so I say they accept

I don’t mind this deal but moving Hertl is way too tough a sell. How about Meier instead and we can forget Jones

That one is gonna be a no for me, not worth moving Hertl to take on another risky contract + Jones retention. Better to either try to resign our best player, or trade him at next deadline, that way at least SJ is better off.

This is just me thinking out loud: I wonder if Vanecek is the one whom the Capitals protect in the expansion draft. With the way Vanecek has played this year, and coupling that with how Samsonov has found himself in the dog house for some off-ice issues, I would think that the Caps would at least think about it.

I love Meier but Caps do need a center. But maybe they can find a center elsewhere. If they can than Meier certainly makes sense.

Thats the problem for the sharks, we need another center already. Couture should be a winger but cant because of lack of center depth

Um, whens the last time Logan played wing consistently? He's been the 2C for most of the last decade.

Don't see Caps needing Meier when they just got Mantha. your top six will be all power forwards lol

Hes terrible at faceoffs. If the sharks had a center they could afford to move him

Realistically I don't see him getting moved to wing even if we had a better C.
