Marleau at 6.25M$ at 1yr left not during covid costed a 1st. It's 100% going to take more than what you offer.

Okay I could see jurmo being a good option instead of Gadjovich. LD is a strong point for the organization anyways.

This is such a tired talking point. Eriksson and Marleau are not comparable. Marleau had a full no love clause and only agreed to be traded if the team aquiring him would buy him out. His buyout cap hit was 6.25 million. That means he can’t be buried, can’t be played, can’t be healthy scratch. Carolina had to take on the full weight of his contract and didn’t even get a roster player for doing so. On top of that, Toronto had 0 leverage. They HAD to trade him in order to sign their RFA’s, there was no other option.

Vancouver doesn’t not have to trad Eriksson, if the price is too high they can hold him. As well, his cap hit is much lower, if he is buried its only 4.875 million, or bought out its only 4 million. Way less than the 6.25 million cap hit for marleau’s buy out. Eriksson also only has a 15 team no trade list, so he can’t be as choosy as Marleau about where to go.

If Marleau costs a 1st to dump, than Eriksson definitely costs less than a 1st, a lot less. And if a team isn’t willing to take it, then the Canucks will just bury him in the minors for one more year. Not a big deal
