No chance in Hell the Rangers trade one of their hottest Defensive Prospects for a Goon entering a Contract year.

This is why Rangers fans piss me off

Red Wings decline this trade, not the Rangers.

You think I was talking about Larkin being a Goon?

There is more than one Trade Proposal posted here.

Maybe look at the one including Ryan Reaves (entering a Contract year, which Larkin isn't) of the GOLDEN KNIGHTS!!!

Had nothing to do with Detroit.

If history has taught me anything, it's that teams oddly over pay for reaves for reasons I don't understand. Hahaha

You know what's crazy? Everyone constantly tries to trade Strome but he's actually been really good the last two years. Offensively better than Larkin. Given line mates and total career I'd obviously prefer Larkin but it's actually shocking how much Strome has produced the last two seasons and how little respect he gets.

Larkin has 28 goals and 76 ponts in 115 GP the last two years
Strome has 32 goals and 106 points in 125 GP

Further Strome is 16th in scoring by a C in the last two years

For comparison

Barzal has 34 goals and 101 points in 121 gp

laugh laugh Larkin would get twice the return Mantha got, And sorry this isn't it slick. No freaking way Yzerman would accept this. Larkin would cost your top C prospect top D prospect and at least 2 1st round picks if not more.

Giving up that for Reaves at 34 isn't very bright because his age has caught up with him. A couple of years ago you have a 4th line enforcer who is putting double digits in points while playing around 10min a game. So putting up average to a little above average 4th line numbers and being a player that stops most players from doing stupid S*** is a somewhat valuable player. Not all enforcers can play on the 1st line and keep up let alone be in the top 5 on his team in scoring.

For what ever reason NYR fans want Strome gone but the odds of that happening with Panarin on the team are slim to none in my opinion. With Panarin out this season Strome was able to still produce which ups his value but he is still on a loaded team and he isn't Always playing against the other teams top defensive unit every night. Without Panarin the amount of time spent against the other teams top defensive unit was much at all. That's a luxury that Larkin doesn't have. While he did play mostly center at U of M, when he was The USNDTP he was a mostly a left wing playing on a line with Eichel and Matthews as his centers. He played mostly LW in his first 3 seasons in Detroit on Zetterberg's line. Larkin has a higher ppg than Strome. Larkin has only 2 seasons where he failed to hit 45 points and Strome has 4 (not counting Strome's first season where he spent as much time in the AHL as he did in the NHL). Choosing only the last 2 seasons to compare isn't really a fair comparison you picked the 2 seasons he was paired with arguably the best winger in the game. Since we are choosing the 2 seasons that best support your argument put them up against Larkin's 2017-18 and 2018-19 the 2 seasons where he had the most support.

Honestly if you had the choice who do you pick Larkin or R. Strome?

See my first comment above the one you quoted where I addressed all that and said I'd take Larkin.

Just saying it's odd how Strome still isn't getting love even when he's produced with Panarin injured/absent.

Also while I compared strokes best years to Larkins worse, the most recent seasons are also relevant. Is there a reason Larkins production is so poor recently? In particular he's only on a roughly half a point per game pace this year? That's well down on his normal production. Is that a cause for concern? I really don't watch any Detroit games with the weird divisions this year

Ok Detroit has scored the fewest goals in the NHL and they finished last season with the fewest and as I said Larkin has had very little support. Bertuzzi played what 9 games this season and Mantha was in his on world most of the season and missed half of last season with a pneumothorax. I think Adam Erne being 2nd is goals for Detroit this season shows how little support Larkin has.

Makes sense. As I said, I haven't watched the games, was legitimately asking. So there is context for his poor production.

Back to original point, not to compare to Larkin, but I legit don't get why Rangers fans still treat Strome like he's awful. I think they're having trouble seeing past his slow and tortured development

You are right about all of the nay sayers, Strome can dish the puck w/wo Pan and deserves less hate. ALTHOUGH it's the non NYR fans that are behind the times here. WE are trading him because of future CAP, period. Heck, we could even keep him as our own rental for 1 more season..
