I like it. Gauthier could replace Virtanen. Mac provides you guys some grit. I don't really see a long term NHL player in MacEwan - I compare him to Sabourin of TOR. Most nucks fans overrate him. But I'd do the swap still if you guys do.

He plays an energy game but has suffered from a knee injury the past season or so. His first year here was highly impressive. Injury has kinda set him back. I think there's a return to that level once he's at 100%. He still plays a solid game just hasn't had the production to show for it on the score sheet.

Still, we are paying you to take him here. When you have a team that needs an energy role model, and the cap to take it on, I don't see the resistance. I think we'd be willing to retain 500k to make it work.

meh, he's a fringe NHLer at best. Canucks fans are wayyyy too high on him. Benning doesn't overpay for everyone, and hardly has done so lately. That meme is just that - a meme. Benning might have screwed up 4 years ago, but has been competent enough lately. I trust the grit gap will be filled in other ways. Mac doesn't pass as an NHL player enough in my books to keep him around.
