I agree these proposals are not well thought out. Canucks are not giving up a top 5 pick. Loui will be bought out for his final year.

It's stated in the description the #10pick which is where I think they'll end up, but I hear ya. Just tossing spaghetti against the wall here.

10-4. I hadn't heard that. I was working off the assumption that Benning had a preference of cap space since his position of the Seabs trade was the opposite of his position now. YES, different situation.

The GMs have figured out how to manipulate the cap now. . I really doubt you see any first round picks being given away to move money now.

That's fair. TOR gave up a 1st to CAR for $6M of Marleau about 2 years ago with nothing coming back. This is a good 2nd and a good prospect.

They sure did 2 years ago. Then the flat cap came in and no one has done it since. TB spent close to 100 mil . St L 90 mil.
Canucks have Beagle on LTIR. I bet Roussel will be on LTIR next year . Virtanen's contract terminated . Eriksson bought out. No cap issues at all.

Good convo. Thanks for replying back. Quick question for VAN going forward. With ESPN's contract coming up shortly and Seattle coming into the fold...It's reasonable to expect the cap to increase after this "flat cap environment". Do you sign Hughes/Petterson to a long term deal NOW? When it's possible to get them at a relatively lower long term rate? OR do you risk something like Petterson wanting $14M per year after his bridge deal?

I think both players had bad years so I think they leave it short term and also owners want to recoup some lost revenues first. Pettersson is not even an 8 million dollar player yet and I doubt if he ever goes above 10. I think he is overrated a bit
