Description

It is going to be a crazy July this year.

This is a list of possible trade targets for the period between July 9 (Playoffs end) and July 17 (roster freeze in effect).

Keep in mind, in this period, NHL teams will not know (a) who is on the official exemption list, (b) who other teams are protecting, (c) who Seattle is interviewing and considering. We may have a good idea for each (thanks to CapFriendly and other sources), but there will be plenty of surprises.

Players on this list are here for various reasons. They were trade bait at deadline, they have been in rumors, their team may have expansion issues or cap issues, or the player may have a new NTC or NMC kicking in on July 28th.

Don’t expect Columbus to move Merzlinkins unless it’s a massive overpayment, honestly just switch him and Korpisalo, if he has any real value at this point.

Brendan Gallagher?

He’d be very high on the list of NHLers who are least likely to change teams, especially considering that he has a NMC for the next 6 years and is the heart of the team.

The NMC kicked in the day he signed the extension. That’s why it says NMC on his previous contract as well.
