Backstrom imo is an untouchable but i assume if Capitals trade him and eat that much cap space it would cost you a player you would hate to lose like Bean, Jarvis Necas (obviously with less added to the trade) eating 4m+ in cap space alone would cost a 1st round pick + prospect .. thats like getting Backstrom for Foegele and a 2nd. not really intriguing enough to send away the 2ndbest player in Caps history (imo). Currently the capitals best player

Id argue Backstrom is ahead of Gartner, but I'd have Bondra, Langway, and MAYBE Kolzig ahead of Backstrom

he's 2nd in points and he's won a cup... Backstrom has quietly been one of the best centers of his generation.
