I've been pretty iffy on whether Pettersson is a fit for Ottawa, and with Mete coming in and playing well I'm even less convinced that he's a fit.

One injury and we have Aspirot in our top 6. We need someone steady. Brannstrom excels at RD and would add the offensive element on that line. Mete at 3LD is solid and Zub with Chabot instead of Zaitsev will do wonders for Thomas' game

I'd love to be able to send Zaitsev to the moon and play Brannstrom on his off side. With Sanderson coming, I'd still rather look to free agency and get a shorter term deal tbh. I think a guy like Jamie Oleksiak or maybe Ryan Murray or Ian Cole. I also think they probably add an RHD, so they aren't just handing JBD the 3RD spot (even though I think JBD is totally capable already. The org seems to see him starting with Belleville next year). A one l year deal on a guy like Jason Demers would be a solid fit imo.

Realistically though, it doesn't seem like Ottawa sees Brannstrom on the right side unfortunately. I actually wonder if they see Sanderson being the one who plays offhand. He played about 1/3rd of the season on the right side with Kleven this year, and was very good. Good shot that Sanderson sees time on the right side next year too. Would love to see Brannstrom go to the World Championship for Sweden and really stand out while playing the right side.

I think what happens this offseason is that they probably keep the 3 LD on the left side, keep Zaitsev and add an RD to let JBD develop while keeping J.Brown out of the lineup. Also I'd expect them to make some signings to address the depth in Belleville. Think they were hesitant to do it this offseason because they didn't really know if Belleville would play. I'd look at at least one good AHL/Call up level Vet LD
