now before you say no- think about how much this helps the oilers. it makes them a more complete team. it gives them a much needed top 2 d, as well as a future star in robertson. and then they get seguin to fill the same role as draisaitl!! dallas gains a future core of heiskanen+draisaitl. and still has guys like hintz, bishop, benn, radulov, ect. what does everyone think?

I actually agree with u on this one but in real life the stars would probably have to give a bit more for draisaitl

No from Dallas. Drai won’t do as good without McDavid, I’m not saying he isn’t good he is, but ruining our d core and trading away our best winger and Calder nominee away won’t help us at all.

I understand your reasoning. But mcdrai only play together on the power play. Draisaitl gets most of his pts 5v5. If anything, mcdavid will be worse without draisaitl. Tippet split them up becasue mcdrai is atrocious defensively.

12 of his 28 goals are the PP. thats a significant chunk of his scoring on the PP and hes second in the league behind mcdavid for power play points leader.
His 5v5 are strong to but point total wise, hes feasting like no other on the PP to increase those totals

I get what you’re saying, it’s just that he would most likely struggle in our heavy defensive system which would see a massive drop in points (knowing Bones, he’d play Comeau over Drai). Almost every player that goes from Dallas to another team sees a big rise in points.

What I’m trying to say is that he is capable of producing off the powerplay. Which wouldn’t matter anyway because he’d be on the first unit on 95% of teams.

Bishop was good before not so much now, Rads was and still is somewhat good and Benn isn’t the big goal scorer he used to be, now with him getting older he’s more if a defensive player that plays a physical game. They aren’t our main guys, but they still are half decent, except Bishop because he’s always injured. Agree with your point though.

thats what i mean, they arent main guys anymore, and at their price tags, they probably are more of a problem in the flat cap era than a solution to their rosters

Oilers still say no Drai is a franchise player and if this trade did go through EDM would be looking for blood.

What can I say, Nill is just addicted to old men. I wouldn’t be surprised if he would run his own branch of retirement homes. Bishop should retire after this season, and that’s not me saying it to save money, he’s the most injury prone player to ever play in the NHL and he’s 34 years old. He’s made his money, he should focus more on life than maybe getting injured badly. At least Rads contract is gone in one year, Benn is a great leader and all, but 9 million is way too much for him.

I'm gonna love posting this for all the Oilers fans to scroll down and read, but this comment is just false.

Through 52 games this season Draisaitl has 77 points (28G, 49A). Now let's break that down a bit more:

47 EV strength points - 27 of them McDavid has factored in on (57%)
30 powerplay points - 23 of them McDavid has factored in on (76%)
77 total points - 60 of them McDavid has factored in on (78%)

So not saying that McDavid and Draisaitl always play on the same line, but Draisaitl highly benefits from playing with McDavid and when they are separated, McDavid draws the tougher defensive matchup, leaving Draisaitl with the lesser opponents, creating more opportunities for him to score.

Sorry Oilers fans, but Draisaitl isn't as good without McDavid as most people think.

This year, Draisaitl has faced Elites 39% of his 5v5 TOI, McDavid 38.6%. It's close, but Draisaitl plays slightly tougher matchups. Link

Here are their WOWY's for the past 2 years combined:

    McDavid with Draisaitl: 3.76 P/60 - and without: 2.66 = +1.10
    Draisaitl with McDavid: 3.48 P/60 - and without: 2.27 = +1.21

Looks like they boost each other by about the same rate.

Bottom line is that it would take a LOT more than this offer to nab the reigning Hart and Art Ross winner. A lot more.

My analysis wasn't wrong. Draisiaitl has 78% of his points this season on goals that McDavid factored into. That's not wrong. That's stat. I'm sorry you can't see that. But it's pretty straight forward to see.

Lol. Sorry, you're an Oilers fan. You wouldn't know what a good player was if you had him. Seguin is not an overpaid 30 year old, he's a scoring threat every time he touches the puck and always has been. Produces more than Eichel and makes about the same. SO now you're saying Eichel is oerpaid? and the biggest LOL at calling Klingberg a #4 rental defenceman... He'd be Edmonton #2, if not #1 guy. He has some defensive lapses but makes up for it in more than a few ways. & that "hot rookie" would be 3rd on the Oilers in scoring, despite not playing with an elite centre all year. And Edmonton has been looking for wingers for years to play with McDavid. But of course, you can't see a good player when he's literally thrown at you. But sure, it's not even close for "the reigning Art Ross and Hart trophy winner" tears of joy

    Really?

    Player A:
    xGF - 31.1
    xGA - 13.5
    corsiFor - 53.9%
    FenwickFor - 55%
    oZS - 57.4%
    shooting % - 19%
    takeaways/giveaways - 45/50
    hits - 55
    blocked shots - 46
    faceoff % - 51.4%

    Player B:
    xGF - 15.9
    xGA - 25.9
    corsiFor - 51.9%
    FenwickFor - 52.1%
    oZS - 54.7%
    shooting % - 18.2
    takeaways/giveaways - 52/66
    hits - 33
    blocked shots - 12
    faceoff % - 55.6%

So Player A leads in 8 of 11 categories here. Player B leads in 3 of 11 categories here. Which player would you rather have?

    ......

    ......

    ......

    Player A: Auston Matthews
    Player B: Leon Draisaitl

Draisaitl isn't a top 5 player like all Edmonton fans think just because he gets points off of McDavid.

Don’t even bother arguing with this guy. It isn’t worth it.

Not sure why you're comparing Seguin to Eichel, you aren't defending a Seguin-for-Eichel trade. And Eichel isn't nearly as good as Draisaitl. Here's their past 3 years' scoring:

    2. Draisaitl: 205, 121-171-292 [1.42 P/GP]
    31. Eichel: 166, 66-112-178 [1.07 P/GP]
    86. Seguin: 153, 52-80-132 [0.86 P/GP]

Draisaitl has scored nearly twice as many goals as Eichel, nearly twice as many P/GP as Seguin, has played more games than both and is on cheaper contract than both. There's no comparison here. Draisaitl >> Eichel >>> Seguin.

LOL, sure. He's never been good defensively, he's basically a PP specialist - the last thing Edmonton needs. I'll take Bear + Larsson + Bouchard on the right side all day, Klingberg isn't needed at all. He plays the 4th hardest comp in DAL and is underwater in terms of corsi and expected goals vs Elites. He has the worst even strength GF% and xGF% of ANY Dallas defender. No wonder you're desperate to get rid of him. #2 or #1, LOL! tears of joy

I see him, he just isn't enough to get Draisaitl and the other pieces are uninteresting. Draisaitl can and does play with McDavid and scores pretty well when he does. Puljujarvi has scored 14 goals in the past 40 games much of the time with McDavid - that's a 29-goal full season pace. That looks like a solution to me.
