  2. 2021 1st round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
CBJ claim they want a 1c. imo Torts wont be back and theyll go for a more "player friendly" coach. Kuzy playing with Laine would be a pretty solid top line.

Sammy is worth a 1st/2nd but capitals are eating a lot of cap also so i made it a 1st + prospect

Oiler cap hit goes up by roughly 3million after Sammy signs

Kuzy if overrated Winking with Tongue Out
In all honesty though, I think Foudy is going to be quite good. If I were Jarmo I'd prefer to keep him

That's a low enough price for Kuznetsov that I'd consider taking the risk. (I worry about his off-ice antics potentially being very destructive over here.)

you fall into the 90%. People who overrate him are just silly imo. He's a gifted offensive center that struggles on defense. in a great year he'll get you 80 points in a bad year he'll get you 60 points. He is exactly that. People that think people think hes a top 20 center are crazy hes a guy that falls in the 30-40 range but is fully capable of being a 1c. ALTHOUGH this year his defensive game has been great and after COVId scare he has put up 16p in the last 20gp

i mean it could also be a wake up call. he is comfortable bc he is buddies with all the big name guys in Washington. Hard to say but mild risk imo high reward if he pays off

If what’s happened recently has taught us anything rangers could use Wilson more than Edmonton. Haha kidding aside I wouldn’t give up half that for him not that he isn’t worth it but not paying full price for someone that is going to create a mess.

why? Wilson scores at a 60 point pace and is clearly able to play in the top 6. thats without having a Mcdavid type player also... i would take a different player of his caliber but Wilson has a ton of value imo. he scores points at a similar rate as Nylander smile

Yeah, the Oilers aren't throwing that many pieces in for those guys. There's only one year left on Koskinen's deal so we aren't throwing in a ton of pieces to get rid of the contract... I do like Samsonov but there are some red flags there. I wouldn't mind Wilson (essentially a better version of what Kassian is supposed to be) but can't really afford him without sending some salary back.

i would disagree. i think teams would pay 2x that. esp when you have valuable assets like Mcdavid/Driai... having Wilson prevents a lot of "mess". Teams rarely touch your superstars with him on the roster.

lol I was being a little facetious. I'm just not a fan of the guy. His off-ice powder antics and blatant lying on SM are just...I dunno. The last time my team trusted a player like that he ended up wrapping his car around a tree while intoxicated...sooo neutral

Sammy is cost control and would be the goalie of the future for the Oilers. You afford Wilson by sending Kost who isnt great to Washington. New tv deal kicks in the next year so money is there. What players are you giving up that isnt worth getting 2 players like Wilson and Sammy? jw what you think Holloway is going to do immediately ?

i figured. tone is hard online..lol i think his upside could make teams forget his past depending on the price. thats why i didnt ask for way more. i figured this wouldbe the limit a team would risk

My personal gripe about the trade is that Edmonton's left with nothing in terms of viable forward prospects if we include both Lavoie and Holloway. I'd be much more willing to include Samorukov than I would be Holloway. If Broberg's preferred, I think you're taking out a draft pick at minimum.

Samsonov won't return that.
Hell Murray got a 2nd and you think he's going to get a 1st +, it's not even like Koskinen is a cap dump. He has better numbers than Samsonov who is on the taxi squad.

Goalies already historically return low value so there is no way you're going to get that.

I don't consider Samsonov cost controlled without a signed contract. No doubt he is a better goalie than Koskinen but he's sitting at a .902 sv% on a top tier team which I'd find concerning to give a big package to get and then still need to sign. Last night notwithstanding, Koskinen has been a decent back-up and I think we're better off waiting out his contract than giving up a first to move it.

I do like Wilson but the way Holloway looked in the world juniors, I'm really excited about him. I don't expect him to make a big impact next year but he's a guy that just does all the little things right and I think he'll be a solid player on an ELC (similar to Yam right now) while the cap is tight.

And when you're talking new TV deal, the players are quite a ways in debt to the league at this point after a whole year with no fans so that cap is staying relatively flat for a couple years at least.

Overall why I'm against this deal is the moving of 2 top tier assets (Holloway/first) and 2 reasonable quality assets (Lavoie/2nd) to dump Koskinen for a potential solution in goal and a loose cannon.

My opinion is Tom Wilson is going down the Raffi Torres path and will start to get message sending suspensions from the league.... he's only helpful if he's in the lineup and not serving 20 game suspensions.

Would you do

Wilson + Nardella for Broberg and Benson... no draft pick (Nardella is older but a beauty his year in the SHL was pretty impressive)

Sammy for Koskinen + Holloway or Koskinen ,1st + Lavoie

i really didnt put too much thought into this was just guessing what a better deal might look like?

Matt Murray had a .899s% 2.87gga and was asking for a massive contract lol. he got such a low return bc teams knew they would have to pay a premium for a diminishing return

Sammy 2.69gga .902s% and is lookingfor maybe 2m not 6m+. their is a huge difference

i said Sammy would get a late 1st/early 2nd . Kost isnt a cap dump but more of a guy you need to trade so you can afford Wilson in this situation.

hard to say what Sammy does but Oilers can lock him up for 2 -2.5m for 2-3 years. if you dont want to lose Holloway you can a similar player but i think this gives the Oilers exactly what they are lookingfor/ blueprint. Wilson is a great wingerfor Mcdavid and Sammy can be the goalie of the future. if you wanna make a counter GM i would love to see it. i dont disagree but i would like to see what you are will to offer the Caps for these 2 guys

Tbh I'm of the opinion Edmonton's better off not moving Koskinen given that he's got a year left and he's perfectly fine as a backup or tandem netminder. I'd keep him out of the deal entirely. Nardella doesn't interest me very much.

Edmonton has about $30M going into this offseason, they don't need to trade Koskinen to make this happen.

I'm fine with moving Broberg and would be willing to include Matej Blumel (dummying the Czech league) which should meet the price of Wilson. Edmonton's 2021 1st is a mid-first, so I don't see equivalent value in that piece in acquiring Samsonov.

There isn't much in the Capitals system that make sense in balancing this deal, so how does:

Washington Capitals
Receive:
Matej Blumel
Cooper Marody*
Dmitri Samorukov
EDM 2021 1st

for

Edmonton Oilers
Receive:
Ilya Samsonov
Tom Wilson

You can sub Marody for Benson if you want, but I think Cooper is more apt to have a more meaningful NHL career at this point.

From the Oilers side, I'd be willing to give this up. Think the caps would probably want an additional or upgrade of one of the pieces.
