That's a dogwater deal for Edmonton and genuinely makes no sense for the Oilers. Nielsen is more washed than Neal is, and you expect us to pay that?

Carolina can just buy out Gardiner, his cap hit would only be 1.4x4. No need to pay this much for someone to take him

A 2nd (which is enough) for a bottom 6 (that can fill in top 6 if need for a short time) in Paul Byron?

Its ok. He also showed us you can retain 50% on Neal and get a 7th. Oilers shall just cutout the middle man

The buyout on Neal is really team friendly so I doubt they even trade him.

Well, if a 50% retained trade showed up I'm sure Holland would think about it as 2 years 50% retained is better then 4 years of 1.96M. We all know a 50% retained trade is very unlikely so Oilers will likely bury Neal for 1 year then buyout when they need extra cap to sign Nurse/JP/Bear.

So the values are a bit screwed but guys like Neal and Gardiner I could see them taking. They can still play and fill a hole plus get a little extra for them.
