I know, but I think Rangers will overpay to compete next year.

Rangers are not trading Chytil and Kakko even less idk why everyone keeps trading them unless eichel or Barkov come along, they re not being traded.

That being said I do like the idea of Hertl coming to NY and I think it would fit the team well

Even tho SJ would probably decline u could propose a Strome + Kreider + pick for Hertl, put Hertl on the second line ans Chytil on the third and sign a LW RFA or UFA

Yeah no. You need to give San Jose one NHLer with youth if you're trading for Tomas Hertl. Filip Chytil is the player you'll have to move. Not two players that a rebuilding Sharks team doesn't need.

Think of the Taylor Hall trade to Arizona, but with a player who has legitimate promise unlike Nick Merkley

I posted an ACGM last night that was Chytil, Blackwell, and a 1st for Hertl. Curious on your thoughts of that?

That would be better although I think we want to keep Blackwell maybe replace him with Gauthier and a third or fourth

Is San Jose rebuilding though? Everyone knows they badly need to but I don't think they are yet. They haven't traded a single piece that says rebuild.

Gauthier is going to Seattle. Blackwell meanwhile doesn't really have a role if the top 9 wings are Lafreniere/Panarin/Kreider and Buchnevich/Kakko/Kravtsov, along with the 4th line being comprised of grit. He's expendable in this trade.

This is crap. Beyond a ridiculous overpay. Hertz isn’t an upgrade over Mika and barely one over Strome. Waste of assets on a lateral move like this.

100% agree that San Jose has not done anything to signal a rebuild, but if there's a team I'm preparing to see start a rebuild, the Sharks would be one of my first guesses. In addition, any Tomas Hertl trade you see on this site is pretty much under the assumption that they finally declare it.

Ron Francis drafted Gauthier when he was with the Hurricanes. I don't see him passing on Julien Gauthier for Brett Howden.

Yeahh I mean I think Chytil and a 1st are good starts and get the deal most of the way there, but I'm not really sure Blackwell has all that much use for us. I know he's had a good year, but I'd rather see a good prospect or a decent pick come back instead. It's close, but I wouldn't bite personally.

Yeh I can definitely understand that concern about Blackwell. In truth, adding him to my trade offer kinda came out of laziness on my end because there’s just nowhere to put him in the lineup if Tomas Hertl is on the roster. I just figured he’d act more as your 1-year plug and play guy (kinda like Ryan Spooner in our Rick Nash deal with Boston).

I wouldn’t mind adding a prospect to the offer, though it would probably only be like a C-grade
prospect. (Like a Lauri Pajuniemi or Will Cuylle, as opposed to a Braden Schneider or Morgan Barron)

Yeah that's fair I feel that. Wouldn't mind taking Blackwell, just doesn't really add much value if you know what I mean. But I wouldn't expect like Kakko or Schneider haha.

Maybe this is a bit of a stretch, but thoughts on Henriksson, Robertson or even Berard? Sharks could even add a bit if one of those guys would be too much. If not, Pajuniemi or Cuylle would be fine but not really game changing tbh.

Those three prospects are probably the next tier (in between C and B). I think that's a reasonable deal though. Jim Dolan probably wouldn't care about losing one of them, lol.
