This future is unfair

Description
I'm not a rangers fan, but I wanna see what y'all think about this lineup prediction for next year, especially the defenseman, between Bitteto, Robertson, Hajek, Schneider and Lundqvist. Who do you think makes that third pair? Also, what do you think of the salaries for the RFAs and what do you think of the line combos.

I had him listed on non-roster, tbh I didn't actually realize you thought of him that highly (mainly cause I had only heard his name a few times and didnt realize he was 20). The depth on this defense beyond even the top 4 for the future really isnt fair, especially if you see him as a guy with NHL potential alongside Lundqvist, Robertson, Hajek and Schneider. Ill call that a mistake on my part

Yeah Zac Jones is actually almost unanimously ranked higher than Matthew Robertson in prospect rankings despite getting drafted a round later than him in 2019. He looks like he’s going to hold down the 3rd LD role over Libor Hajek now. Meanwhile Nils Lundkvist gets the 3rd RD role as he’s much more matured than Braden Schneider right now. Schneider will start 2021-22 in the AHL most likely.

As a Ranger fan I’m stoked about our defence’s future after a decade of torturing Henrik Lundqvist. Lol.

I think Schneider would have to go back to the WHL again due to his age next year, but its possible that rule is getting changed soon anyways.

He’s old for his draft class. He’ll actually be 20 by the time next season starts. (9/20/01)

Rangers are going to have a tough time paying all of these young players.

Im still not completely sure on how bonuses work, but the Rangers have to pay a lot of bonuses

He missed being a really young 2019 prospect by a couple of days

We have 6,112,500 in bonus cushion (bonus money that doesn't count towards the cap) and the rest of bonus money that hits counts towards the cap at the end of the year

Hajek isn't an NHL Dman (might play in the league but he isn't good, at least not right now)

Is 6,112,500 for every team?

Yes many teams don't up needing the entire cushion but its always there

And bonuses can be from ELCs or 35+ deals

Ok thank you.

I still think the Rangers don't have an "unfair future" with the cap and holes on this team. They need a true #1/#2 center. Plus. they have to pay Kaako, Kravstov, Fox and Zibanejad next offseason

Fox is really the only big raise, kakko will only go up about 3 mil, same with mika, kravtsov probably less, fox will go up about 7 if he signs long term

Fox should get 8+ with him being in the Norris conversation. Kaako might get around 4 because he's good defensively. I agree with Kravtsov and Zibanejad. But still the Rangers need that #1/#2 center.

Looking at the recent Stanley Cup winners, all of them had great centers. Lightning had Point/Stamkos/Cirelli. Blues had O'Rielly, Washington had Kuzenstov/Backstrom, Penguins had Crosby/Malkin

Imo, Rangers need that top 6 center top compete and they aren't easy to find/get

Thats what I said for kakko and fox (just under 1 to 4 for kakko and just under 1 to 8 for fox)

Also I wont tolerate this Brayden Schenn disrespect

I think you're overrating NYR defence man. Wanna talk about unfair defence? Look at Colorado...

Fox gets 8M easy, but I suspect he won’t. Not because he isn’t worth it, he’s top 3 D man in the league. But everyone seems to be oblivious to the fact that he demanded his way to NYR from multiple teams. Why? He grew up a NYR fan... He wants to play there, it’s his dream, he doesn’t just want to play there...he wants to win there. So the likelihood of him taking a sweetheart deal coming out of his ELC is far higher than anyone seems to realize.
