Dolan Said Rebuild Over

Created by: HOCKEYBOY448
Team: 2021-22 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 7, 2021
Published: May 7, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
That’s as fair of an offer I think for Eichel we could make without gutting the rest of our young guys. Not saying we make the deal but Drury has been told the rebuild is over. Honestly Sabres fans will still complain, but the deal doesn’t really kill us. The year after Strome is gone and Barron takes 3C. The other guys are meant for depth and toughness but can still play or rotate in when we need them. I actually really like this team and think it could do pretty well or at least get closer to the playoffs.

This is one of the first more legit offers I've seen all day. I'd keep Eichel if I had the choice though.

Gonna be cap hell over the next few years when guys like Zib, Fox, Miller, and Laf need new contracts.

Yeah we might need to go short and bridge some of them. Laf will probably get a 5 year deal and then locked up to an 8 year deal. Miller a 3 year deal. I’m not sure what they’ll do with Mika yet cause he’s gonna be expensive. Hopefully Fox gives a hometown discount and we lock him up for 8 years ASAP.

Dolan wants to win. What he says is law if that hasn’t been made clear enough. I personally wouldn’t do all of this if I was the gm, but in terms of reality I wouldn’t be surprised if something crazy happens like this. As long as we don’t trade Laf, Fox, Shesty or Miller I’m good. Everyone else is fair game as far as I’m concerned. Those four are the cornerstones and if we can add Eichel, our franchise pillars to build around would be Eichel, Laf, Fox, Miller and Shesty. Everything else can be built around them.

Well you and I don’t own the team so what we want doesn’t matter. Dolan would definitely green light Drury to do something ridiculous like this.

I mean there seems to be a lot of misinterpretation of the situation on here. Most (read: All) of Dolan's complaints are fixed by replacing Quinn... I mean yeah they're probably going after Eichel (likely by primarily using assets acquired in a Mika deal) and yeah they're likely fixing up the 4th line a bit with better forecheckers. But they're not going after goons. This is a team that had McLeod and Haley and Lemieux already. They're not dumb.

I hope so buddy otherwise they’ll reverse all the good progress they made with this rebuild. I personally think once Schneider, Robertson and Cuylle come up this problem will resolve on its own.

Rangers made an offer for Eichel last off-season...do we know what that offer was?
I'd think Sabres hold out for one of Fox, Lafreniere or Shesty.

I don’t think the Rangers do that. If the deal above can’t get it done, we’re not gonna get Eichel.

Total nuclear option. Fox, Laf and Shesty might be the only ones safe. Fair game on everything else.

Yeah I mean I don't even know if Schneider/Cuylle are going to make it here. Both those guys were picks by Chris Morehouse (JD's son in law) as opposed to Gordie. With JD gone, it's unclear if there's any allegiance to those picks going forward. I could see Schneider on the move as part of the Eichel deal.

Bruh just buyout DeAngelo yourself, it's only 300k, and you don't have to give up assets for an absolute plug in Zach Kassian.

If this is the kind of deal Dolan green lights (and pushes Drury to make) then this organization is in for some tough times.
