Man, if we got that return for Murphy. I'd kinda be willing to move him, even though it would make our defense far worse going forward.

Are the Hawks hard up for cash? I'd they can afford to pay him, moving Seabrook doesn't really do much for them

Nope, it’s about cap flexibility. Meaning who we could bring in during the off-season without cap circumvention shenanigans. Besides, hawks get 60% of Seabrooks money back from insurance.

But with LTIR there's not really anything to worry about. They get the cap space back, even if it's needlessly confusing.

LTIR dosent work in the offseason, so we are essentially 9 million under the actual salary cap with Seabrook and Shaw. It means we couldn’t get a free agent unless we gave them a verbal agreement to be signed after the season starts.

Caps fans aren't keen on Zadorov, They have a solid pipeline of sizeable LD apparently and Kempny to return at LD.

They’ll get Zadarov for this price and they’ll like it.

You can be 10% over in the offseason, which more than covers Seabrook's contract. They can spend "above" the cap in the offseason, and still be building a team that is cap compliant day one when LTIR kicks in.

You have to be cap compliant at the start of the season. That includes contracts like Seabrook and Shaw.

You just talk to Gary and work out some extra cap space for WSH and they'll love it. About 10M extra space should make this trade a big win for them. Deal?

    Hello Aussie Blackhawk.

My older sister has lived in most of her adult life in Australia...mostly in Darwin. When her boys were kids we would send them Leafs, and Blue Jays tee shirts as gifts. They were the only ones in school with Canadian sports teams clothing.
What's your story? Are you a transplanted North American or a native born Aussie?

Hi Palhal, I am a native born Aussie. I came into Ice hockey in my early 20's so pretty late tbh. We are a sport crazy nation and have a proud sporting history though Ice Hockey came to me in the form of a former colleague of mine who I still speak with regularly mostly regarding Hockey, he is also a native Aussie but lived in Canada for many years and met his wife there. He told me of "fastest sport in the world" and challenged me to find something more intense. Being competitive in nature, I took the challenge up and researched a heck of a lot, watched a lot of hockey videos and conceded that it is indeed the most intense sport in the world and also highly skillful! The next task was to find a team that aligned with me and what I like. That was another 2 week expedition as he is a Flames supporter, naturally I have a soft spot for them but through historical values, the style of play, the players the fans and the franchise in general I found a new passion in the Chicago Blackhawks. I cannot watch all the games live though watch as much as I can and when the chance presents itself I do watch but Ice Hockey in general is a sport I hold in high regard and vividly follow with passion.

Btw, Darwin has more crocodiles then people in it and is very tropical but quite a good little city. She must really enjoy the lifestyle. I live on the East Coast where the weather is not suited to Ice Hockey. My colleague would go and watch some Ice Hockey at a rink about an hour away from me where older AHL and maybe some old NHL guys who have moved to Australia for the lifestyle would play a little pick up Hockey every now and then.

    Thanks for Listening.

Thanks you for some insight in your life and hockey in Australia.
Yea, I suppose my sister must love Darwin thought she has lived in many of the bigger cities in the Australia in her 50 years there. She lost her house in the typhoon in Darwin, think it was 1974.
Maybe two of three children didn't like the tropics as much as one lives in Tasmania and the other in Adelaide.
