?

Zacha has as many points as Mtkachuk this year
20th overall pick in an excellent draft
Another likely mid 1st rounder
Boqvist is valuable
Maltsev has value

How on earth does that only get you "left skate 3g"

🤨

And I think Mtkachuk is an elite W myself

As usual a pretty good AGM here gets dismissed

By people who barely research their opinions

Or disingenuously exaggerate grey areas 😑

I really like the big $ short term strategy for elites

Dougie is best in a small market too

Cool beans 👍

The Devils would be giving up
(a) Our 1LW and leading scorer in Zacha (~60 pt pace in full schedule)
(b) Mukhamadullin: The NHL's 38th ranked prospect (and 10th best LHD)
(c) Boqvist: Our current 3C with very high ceiling
(d) McCarthy: our 2nd best RHD prospect behind Walsh
(e) Maltsev: An NHL bottom-six player
(f) Schmid: The current leader in USHL in both Save % and GAA
(g) Siegenthaler: A future #4 or #5 LHD
(h) 2023 1st round pick

That is too many pieces. I would give fewer, but better pieces.
I'd think it would be more like:

One of - Zacha, Kuokkanen or Wood (LW replacement)
One of - Holtz, Mercer, Foote, Mukhamadullin, Bahl (A-rated prospects)
One of - Boqvist, Maltsev, McCarthy, or similar (B level prospect or young player)
One of - 2021 1st, 2022 1st or 2023 1st
One of - 2023 3rd or 2024 3rd that could turn into 1st or 2nd based on conditions.

If that's what tkachuk signs for, Calgary keeps him. That offer isn't exactly overwhelming

It's if he gets into the 9.5 million range that they might look to move him.

Too much for M Tkachuk

Also a reminder to Flames fans
51 games, 34 points for Tkachuk
48 games, 34 games for Zacha

Adding all of those players on top of it is an overpayment by NJ

As an oiler fan who admitted did want to draft that piece of **** that belongs to Calgary will admit comparing his offence to zacha isn’t even comparing half of his game the physical and nastiness he brings and he is that rare breed of instant leader I hate him for all the reasons everyone should want him this offer wouldn’t get it done it’s got some quality in it but nothing that Calgary would see as even remotely close to a difference maker for the organization.

This trade was done previous to the 22/23....when Tzachuk is just one year away from UFA. As a result I think it's a big overpayment by New Jersey.
Next summer, imagine (and it is isn't hard to imagine) that the Flames finish out of the playoffs.....What is Tzachuk's mindset about staying in Calgary, and even the Flames mindset about a necessary rebuild/reboot?

Hamilton isn't wasting his time on a 1-2 year deal in NJ Zacha ever becoming a 60-65 point Center he hasn't shown us yet of ever even coming close to those numbers. LMAO giving Jack Hughes $7 million he hasn't even broken the 40 point barrier yet.

Tkachuk is having what is probably going to be the worst offensive season he has for the next decade and is a severe regression from the last 3 years, and you think that because Zacha can match that down year while he is having a career high points pace means they are on any level equal? Not to mention tkachuk’s leadership (he will be the captain in the near future), defensive game, physicality, ability to aggravate and draw penalties, etc. The 20th overall in a good draft only means anything if it was a good pick, everyone thought mukham shoulda gone in the mid- to late-2nd at best, and hindsight hasn’t changed that. A collection of B tier and C tier prospects don’t move the needle at all for an elite winger, quality>quantity for these types of trades, obviously. A 1st 2 years out also means fairly little, that could be 1st or it could be 32nd so there’s no way to ascertain if that has value, and you want quality value now if you’re going to consider moving a guy who is a top 15 winger in the league.

I never said that. That was other people who said that. I added more in the trade. All I did was saying that ur joke wasn’t funny bc it wasn’t🤷‍♂️. All of what I put in the trade is worth a tad bit more than four firsts.

I would be shocked if he was not. Saying that, it would be fun to see him in the same division as Wilson. He'd poke that bear into a full on career ending implosion.
