Improving weak areas

Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: May 8, 2021
Published: May 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade for a shooter in Laine to go with Puljujarvi and McDavid. Bring in a third line center with grit that can score. Brought in a number one goalie and filled the open spots with young players that are ready to contribute.
Still keeping cap space for any changes required or another UFA.
The deal with Columbus fills the Oilers needs and sends them two young defensemen that can contribute now. Not mention the brother of your number 1 defensemen, to help get him to resign. You get two prospects that are leading the minors in scoring and a few veterans for cap reasons. And finally a 1st round pick to help your rebuild. Another asset or pick could be added. It also leaves Columbus the opportunity to go sign a few UFA that fit their needs and style. Something the above three didn’t seem to do.

I’m good with either, Elvis has been more vocal and teams often move those players.

Is this a joke? Domi and Roslovic are basically the only Cs Columbus has. So Columbus trades Domi and doesn't even get a C back in return. Jarmo will want a C back for Laine rather easily without RNH being involved there's noway Laines heading to Edmonton anytime soon. This is pretty bad for Columbus basically giving away scraps here.

Neal and Koskinen are cap dumps and you will need to pay to get rid of them. When you factor that in you’re really not sending nearly enough to Columbus for Laine, Elvis and Domi, plus CBJ doesn’t move Laine unless a legit top 6 centerman is coming back the other way.

Ignoring the trade because personally think it’s short sighted to even consider will cause all sorts of cap issues sooner rather than later. Contracts take a million off Barrie add it to Larsson more realistic

I don't know what's worse - the proposal, or including Merzlikins as a player that supposedly "doesn't fit the Jackets' needs and style".
