i wouldn't do that for brown, it would need to be an overpay to get him imo hes been a huge part of this team's success

Not even close for Brown. He's a young two way beast and Ottawa isn't trading him for quantity or futures. They'd only move him for an upgrade at C or wing.

A 1st for Connor Brown 🤷‍♂️

Benson is a good prospect

i think it would have to be among the lines of the blake Coleman deal, 1st + good prospect i think would be within his range of value

Ottawa doesn't need a late first either LOL he's definitely worth it and more for his two way playo. Were a good team right now once we've shed out veterans at the deadline. Brown is a big part and carries our third line while playing well short-handed.

I get that comparable but does that mean every Kapanen deal will be the same. I don’t think so IMO

huh? Kapanen got traded for a 1st (a really good one at that) and a prospect too so i don't really get what you're saying. Browns got term at a reasonable cap hit, he may not have a market of a 1st and a prospect, but if Ottawa trades him it shouldn't be for any less based on past trades otherwise it's not worth it. He's become a very good player and has shown he can play up and down the lineup since he left Toronto, the coaches and GM love him he wont get traded for nothing

Connor Brown is way better than Kapanen ever was in Toronto. I know you're a Leafs fan, but you can't judge the value based on the Connor Brown you guys remember. He's not the same player, and his value to Ottawa is exponentially higher than it was to Toronto.

The leafs sold low on Kapanen, feel like that was a completely different situation given the cap crunch. Toronto had to move pieces, Ottawa does not. But also the 15th overall in a strong 2020 draft is nowhere close to 20th in a weaker draft that still has question marks. Plus the leafs got a 2nd in Hallander.

That being said Brown is on a 30 goal 50 point pace over a full season. 2 fringe NHLers doesn’t come close to compensating for that. Archibald isn’t appealing, Benson could be a decent piece but he is 5 years past his draft with only a cup of coffee in the league. The AHL production is nice but isn’t a promise of NHL production. If Benson is the player coming back there should at least be a 1st added.

Edmonton's first will be a late first in a weak draft, and Benson is 23. Brown is only 27 and just showed that he can be a solid contributor on both ends of the ice. He is also better than almost any player that got traded for a first this year. This is a shallow take
