Sabres aren't folding, they'd either sell or relocate

They won't relocate, Buffalos a great sports town if there is a good team. Check out the bills fans, ranked #1

If they relocate, I could see Quebec, Halifax, New Brunswick, Houston, or maybe even a Maine team as options.

I think people already see him as one of the best goal scorers, I don't think he does 31 though without an elite passer in Kane.

Pretty much all of the top scorers have elite set-up guys. Matthews has Marner. Rantanen has MacKinnon. Ovechkin has Backstrom. McDavid and Draisaitl have each other.

McDavid has himself and Draisaitl has McDavid. But yea even with the sabres Skinner had Eichel, till they took it away.

John Tortarella to the sabres??

I wouldn't want Torts, but they could definitely use a strong personality to get things turned around. This team desperately needs structure. And perhaps more importantly, they need structure from the GM.

Canada is out. If they ever move, which they won't, it'd be to a big city like Houston or Portland, OR.

It looks like Paul Byron will return today for the habs, which means for the first time in their 111 year history, including 6,785 NHL games, the habs will be playing without a Québec born player in their lineup.

I’m kind of surprised that hasn’t happened before. Wild stat

I could see one of those cities getting a team for sure.

That's very interesting. Guess the Habs love the locals.

In recent years it’s definitely been continued with the habs acquiring Québécois depth players, like Deslauriers, Barberio, Chaput, Mitchell, etc. Which makes sense, if these players want to play for their hometown team, and with these players not having much of an impact on how well the team does.

The only players from Québec who have played more than 150 games for the team in the last 10 years are Drouin, Danault, and David Desharnais.

Completely off the top of my head but I believe Ontario is the biggest repped province.

That’s definitely a very different situation, due to language and also the larger number of Ontarians in the league.
Since 2011-12, there are 7 Ontarians with 150+ GP for the Leafs: Kadri, Marner, Hyman, Brown, Dermott, Tavares, and Holland. And Muzzin is only 16 games away from 150. There’s 43 players in total, as opposed to 17 Québécois players for the habs.

Jack Eichel: “I’ve been a bit upset about the ways things have been handled since I’ve been hurt. There’s been a bit of a disconnect between myself and the organization. The most important thing now is to get healthy and be ready to play hockey next year, wherever that might be.”

There’s only been 9 players in the last 10 years, but 4 of them have played over 400 games for the Red Wings: Abdelkader, Glendening, DeKeyser, Larkin.

His other comments are... “worse”. Don’t break your heart by looking in further as a Sabres fan.

It sucks but now we gotta see a win in Buffalo with this trade. The OReilly trade set the Sabres back, and that wasn’t near this magnitude. An Eichel trade must be a “win”.

Maybe Doug Wilson calls😎😎😎jk but the NYR have the assets as we all have seen the rumblings; just gotta hope Buffalo takes a good portion of them.

Of course, but unfortunately that’s how the game is played right now. The NHL isn’t going to give a fine to every single slash and cross check. Hell, they don’t even give a 2 minute penalty to every slash or cross check.

I'm not saying they should hand out a fine to every slash or crosscheck. I'm saying that I think they made the right choice in regards to this situation. I think that should be a fineable play, and I hope they continue to treat it as such.
